Actors Kim Woo Bin and Lee Hyun Woo are “looking over” to star in a new film titled, “Experts.”

A rep from Sidus HQ, Kim Woo Bin’s agency, stated in a phone conversation with a local news agency, “’Experts’ is one of the films that were offered [to Kim Woo Bin]. He is currently contemplating after receiving offers to star in 10 different projects.”

A rep of Lee Hyun Woo’s agency, KEYEAST, also stated in a phone conversation, “’Experts’ is one of the offers [Lee Hyun Woo] received. We have not yet discussed any details.”

On the same day, a media outlet reported Kim Woo Bin and Lee Hyun Woo will be working with director Kim Hong Sun on the film “Experts.” However, it seems the decision has not be finalized.

“Experts” will tie in with the 2012 film “The Thieves,” and Trinity Entertainment, the same production company that produced “Friend 2,” will take on its production. Kim Hong Sun, who made his debut with the 2012 film “Traffickers,” will direct it.

Kim Woo-bin and Lee Hyun-woo courted for heist movie

by girlfriday | November 18, 2013KimWooBin_LeeHyunWoo1.jpg
I’m totally taking this maybe-casting with a huge grain of salt, but it’d be great if it worked out. Kim Woo-bin (Heirs) and Lee Hyun-woo (Coverty, Grandly) are currently being courted to star in a new heist movie called The Professionals by Trinity Entertainment, aka the producers behind Kim Woo-bin’s current hit gangster sequelFriend 2. The project is still really early in the development stage, but it makes sense that they’d want to capitalize on Friend 2’s box office success with early press announcements (It opened in first place and surpassed 1.3 million tickets in its opening weekend).

There were news that two of the most sought-after actors today will join forces and act on sa film together. It was reported that actors Kim Woo Bin and Lee Hyun Woo are likely to star in a movie with supposedly working title "Experts."

Like Us on Facebook

Then again, the only thing that the actors' respective agencies confirmed as of this time is the fact that their artists are currently "looking into" the scripts of the upcoming movie.

KeyEast, the agency that manages Lee Hyun Woo's career said over the phone interview that,'Experts' is one of the project offers that was given to Lee Hyun Woo. However, no details were discussed yet."

Meanwhile, on the side of Kim Woo Bin's agency, Sidus HQ, they verified that starring in the "Experts" is one of the 10 projects received by Woo Bin and he is currently reviewing the offer.

If the two actors agreed to do the film and all the details get finalized, they will be working with well-known film director, Kim Hong Sun.

"Experts" will be in the vein of the 2012 hit "The Thieves." So, presumably this will be an action thriller.  Stay tuned for updates!

The movie “The Technicians” has finalized its main cast, including actors Kim Woo Bin and Lee Hyun Woo and will move into filming in March.

Production company Trinity Entertainment confirmed the casting for its follow-up movie to “Friend 2,” “The Technicians.” The movie will star Kim Woo Bin, Lee Hyun Woo, Go Chang SukJo Dal HwanKim Young ChulShin Gu and Im Joo Hwan.

In 2013, Kim Woo Bin saw his stock rise following memorable performances in “Friend 2” and “The Heirs,” while Lee Hyun Woo was in box-office hit “Secretly and Greatly,” alongside Kim Soo Hyun and Park Ki Woong. Aside from these two 20-something pretty boys, another face that will light up the screen is actor and model Im Joo Hwan. Combined with its stellar supporting cast, “The Technicians” seems like a movie to look out for.

A representative from the production company hinted that the movie will contain “criminal technicians and detectives, the appearance of opponents, and a complicated story.” Kim Woo Bin’s lack of a female counterpart will make this a male-dominated movie.

“The Technicians” is the new project of director Kim Hong Sun, who won the Rookie Director Award at the 2012 Blue Dragon Film Awards for his film, “The Traffickers.” His new movie, “The Technicians” is a caper movie about the activities of criminal technicians against a port background.

KIM Woo-bin and LEE Hyun-woo Become THE TECHNICIANSby Pierce Conran /  Feb 05, 2014 | KoFictoEaLxAFJLHVHnSBtxoJ.jpg
Young Stars Headline New KIM Hong-sun Feature
Filmmaker KIM Hong-sun is returning to the director’s chair with his sophomore film The Technicians, following his 2012 debut Traffickers. Headlining his new film will be popular young stars KIM Woo-bin and LEE Hyun-woo. The Technicians will star KIM Woo-bin as an ace safe cracker and his team of operatives. Though both are known in Korea for their roles in widely viewed TV dramas such as Too Beautiful to Lie, KIM Woo-bin and LEE Hyun-woo made big waves in 2013 through their leading roles in the hit films Friend: The Great Legacy, a sequel to 2001’s enormously popular gangster drama Friend, and Secretly Greatly, the surprise hit spy drama thriller co-starring KIM Soo-hyun and PARK Ki-woong which almost accrued seven million admissions domestically. GO Chang-seok, KIM Yeong-cheol and JUNG Man-sik will be among the film’s co-stars. Director KIM’s debut Traffickers, an organ trafficking revenge thriller starring LIM Chang-jung, was a solid performer with 1.65 million admissions during its late summer 2012 run. The film also earned its director the Best New Director prize from the Blue Dragon Film Awards in 2012. The Technicians is slated to begin in late February or early March with a release expected in late 2014.

"The Technicians" Rounds Up A Gang Of Cast MembersBY Joan MacDonald | Jan 30, 2014 11:28 AM ESTkim-woo-bin-and-lee-hyun-woo.jpg?w=600
You can't pull off a successful heist until you have all the manpower you need and the upcoming heist film "The Technicians" is lining up a great cast of criminal masterminds. The first person to sign up for the film was Kim Woo Bin, who recently starred in "The Heirs" and "School 2013." Because of his work in those two dramas, he is considered the breakout star of 2013.In "The Technicians," he will play Ji Hyuk, a master safecracker.
The next actor to play a member of the shipping port gang is Lee Hyun Woo. The actor appeared in last year's hit film "Secretly Greatly" as a North Korean spy who pretends to be a high school student. In "The Technicians," he will play a genius computer hacker.
Ko Chang Seok of "Advertisement: Dangerous Rumors" will play another member of the gang. The actor also had a role in "Secretly Greatly."The computer savvy gang will use the latest technology to commit their crimes. That tech savvy is highly desirable and other criminals will hire them to crack codes and get the goods from otherwise impenetrable locations.
Also signed on for the cast is veteran actor Shin Goo, who was recently seen in the variety show "Grandpas Over Flowers." Shin Goo will play Kim Woo Bin's crime mentor.
Kim Young Chul, who appeared in "The Blade and the Petal" and "Iris II," will play one of the gang's criminal clients. Im Joo Hwan, who appeared in "Ugly Alert," will play Kim Young Chul's ruthless associate. It will be Im Joo Hwan's first role as a villain.
While the criminal technicians will work for the bad guys, they can't quite trust them. And at the same time they will have to stay clear of the law.Ji Seung Hyun will play a detective who pursues these master criminals and their clients. He previously acted with Kim Woo Bin in the film "Friends 2." So far no actresses have signed on for roles in the caper film, so we can assume there will not be a romantic element to the story.Kim Hong Sun, who won a new artist award for directing "The Conspirators" at the Blue Dragon Film Awards in 2012, will direct "The Technicians."
The drama is produced by Trinity Entertainment and will be distributed by Lotte Entertainment. The film begins shooting at the end of February and its release date is scheduled for the fall.

Lee Hyun Woo previously starred in movie Secretly, Greatly, acting as a north Korean agent ‘Lee Hae Jin,’ in the movie that sold over seven million tickets. Having taken over the hearts of many female fans with his looks and acting ability, Lee Hyun Woo will be making another transformation acting as a genius hacker ‘Jong Bae’ in The Technicians.
Meanwhile, The Technicians is a caper film about crime experts who work their way around a seaport. The movie will star Lee Hyun Woo, Kim Woo Bin, Go Chang Suk, Jo Yoon Hee and more, and is set to be released in the later half of this year.

The Technicians in Abu Dhabiby June KIM /  Jun 19, 2014 | KOFICFirst Korean Movie Filmed in the City, Adds Flare with Location ShootuCQQVTFpHCQhhCWRUcWe.jpg
On May 25 to 27th, the Criminal Designer crew roamed the capital of UAE, Abu Dhabi. This was the first Korean film ever to be shot in the city, which took place at the Abu Dhabi International Airport, Emirates Palace, and the Hilton Capital Grand Hotel. The location was decided by the CEO of Trinity Entertainment, NAM Ji-mi.
The 21-member Criminal Designer team included cast KIM Woo-bin and CHO Youn-hee, producer YOOK Kyung-sam, and director KIM Hong-sun. KIM Woo-bin had gained fame through the Korean drama The Heirs and was cast in the film Friend: The Great Legacy last year. Other than Criminal Designer, KIM Woo-bin is also to be cast in Twenty (W/T) this year. Director KIM’s previous work Traffickers starring LIM Chang-jung had gone to Asian Film Festival of Dallas and received positive reviews, which led to the Best New Director prize at the 2012 Blue Dragon Film Awards.

When asked about the shoot, NAM mentioned, “I would definitely recommend Abu Dhabi as a filming destination. We had a wonderful experience. We wish our filming could have been longer because we really wanted to show the unique charm of the UAE in general and Abu Dhabi in particular.”
Cinescape Box Office, a production arm from Total Concepts International, supported the shoot by providing local coordination, local production team, government-related licenses and permissions and also equipment.
The film cranked-in early March, is scheduled to crank-up in July, and is to be released later in 2014.

It has been a year of many firsts for the UAE film industry and May 25 marked another as the first Korean feature to shoot in the capital touched down to film scenes at Abu Dhabi International Airport and Emirates Palace. A few minor scenes were also shot at the Hilton Capital Grand, where the cast and crew were staying.

The thriller, with the working title The Technicians, stars Kim Woo Bin and Lee Hyun Woo. Kim enjoyed big-time success with the 2013 box-office hit Friend 2, while the child-actor Lee’s blockbuster Secretly, Greatly, drew audiences of seven million in their homeland.

For the director, Kim Hong Sun, the film is his second major feature following 2012’s revenge thriller Traffickers, which attracted an audience of 1.7 million in South Korea and earned him the Best New Director gong at the Blue Dragon Awards.

A local partner

The Korean producers behind the film, Trinity Entertainment and Lotte Entertainment, are also familiar to home audiences with hits such as Friend 2, while for Cinescape Box Office, the newly launched Dubai-based producers, the project was a way for it to break new ground. “This is our first film production support venture,” says Karl Calleja, Cinescape’s divisional director.

Cinescape Box Office is the film-production arm of the events-production company Total Concepts International, which has previously worked on a lot of festivals, shows and theatre productions in the UAE.

“We’d originally planned on launching Cinescape with a big festival event – not something to compete with DIFF [Dubai International Film Festival] or ADFF [Abu Dhabi Film Festival], but something different that we know we can pull off,” says Calleja. “We’re still in talks about that, but the Korean producer is a friend of our managing director, Bilal Mansour, and this opportunity was there, so we decided to bend a bit and do this to get the support of the industry and get our name known.”

Cinescape may be a new venture but it has clear and ambitious goals for its role in the regional industry. “Cinescape wants to extend an invitation to producers and international companies who want to shoot in the UAE,” says Calleja. “We want to highlight the location as a filming destination. We also organise all the permits and licences and offer full production support for filming.”

Supporting cast

For the Korean crew, it seems there were several factors about filming in Abu Dhabi that appealed to them. “We decided to shoot the final scenes of our movie in Abu Dhabi to bring flavour to our film, especially the unique and beautiful architecture of Abu Dhabi – the blending of the traditional and the new,” says Jimi Nam, the executive producer and chief executive of Trinity. “In a way, we also want to introduce the Arabian culture to our market.”

Nam brought a team of 21 from Korea to Abu Dhabi, including the actors Kim and Cho Youn Hee, the producer Kyung Sam Yook, the director and 17 additional crew members. His team were supported by a local crew of 36, made up of 28 supporting actors and eight additional crew.

Nam says the experience was a positive one, with support coming from across the board. “We are very fortunate to have Cinescape Box Office on board. Our coordination was prompt and we had a fast turnaround given the short notice to the local production team. We got the utmost support and cooperation of the concerned government authorities for related licences and permissions from the Customs to the Media Council and from our location management to getting the additional support-cast talent, skills and equipment.”

Word of mouth is vital in spreading the virtues of the UAE as a filming destination and it sounds like the Korean industry could be in for some positive reports on the team’s return.

“I would definitely recommend Abu Dhabi as a filming destination. We had a wonderful experience. We wish our filming could have been longer because we really wanted to show the unique charm of the UAE in general and Abu Dhabi in particular, but just as in any other production, we have a schedule to follow and a budget to consider,” says Nam.

Filming for The Technicians began in early March in Korea. Final scenes were shot in Abu Dhabi from May 25 to 27 and the film is scheduled for a Korean and Asian release later this year. The producers hope to release the film in the UAE shortly thereafter.
