Natural Hair type: naturally straight, kinda thick, but not too thick

Hair History: -

Virgin/Dyed 2 times a year since.. the third grade? (so bad) and bleached about 2 times before, too

Natural

Hair color Before: dark brown/slightly black, with some light brown from previous bleachings

Hair color After: dark orange/reddish/brown

Bleach?: no

Hair Dye: ...okay I actually used 4 different boxes-- one was orange, fuschia, brown, red-- don't remember the brands though.

Price: forgot how much the boxes cost

Description: - I actually just randomly splattered a bunch of orange dye on my hair-- to find that I was running out. I tried to scrape some extra orange out to mix with red and fuschia, but I ran out of those colors, too, so I had to dig out a brown. In the end I mixed the three colors (and very few orange) together to create an immense orange/red color

Comments: I liked the result when I had JUST washed it-- it was really really bright, which is what I was aiming for, but there was some red-- which I didn't like. I'd suggest making sure I actually have enough hair dye before doing anything +_o and I don't like how it faded back to this dull brown/orange color :(

from..

bluehair.jpg

(the blue is just extensions-- I didn't dye those D:)

to...

orangehair1.jpg

falalalawassupfoo037.jpg

(it looks like that now in real life, but I took the picture back when I recently dyed it)

no picture of what it faded into though

my roots are growing out too :[

I hope this helped.. in anyway

although I really doubt anyone would wanna brighten their head this much.

My mom banned me from dying my hair again (for another year) after she saw the result.. T_T

Since I made the thread, I thought I should be the first post ! (:

EDIT; pwn`d lol. Second post haha.

WORTH IT?: Kind of. It didn't show up as light as I thought it would.

Natural Hair type:

- Fine

- Straight

- Medium-Long Length

- Generally soft and smooth hair.

Hair History:

- Virgin hair previous to this post.

- Natural but straightened very frequently

Hair color Before: Black/"Very Dark Brown"

new.jpg

Hair color Desired: A rich medium-dark brown, kind of reddish.

Hair color After:

- In low light: Black/"Very Dark Brown"

(Like the Before picture)

- In normal lighting: Dark Brown

ohemgee2.jpg

- In bright light/outdoors: Medium Brown and Red.

AFTERlight.jpg

weird, eh?

Bleach?: No

Hair Dye: Garnier Nutrisse: Nourishing Color Creme

in 535 (Medium Golden Mahogany Brown)

Price: Around $7 at CVS.

Changes:

- My hair became a little more damaged

- The texture wasn't as smooth as before

- My hair looked more dull.

Description: I left the dye in for 25 minutes and then washed it out.

duringlmao.jpg

haha. It looks gross =x

Comments: I wish I had left it in for longer, and wrapped it in tin foil and blow dried it.

I also wish I used a lighter color because there was no way that this color would come out on my virgin black hair.

My friends say that it looks very nice and natural though. They said it softened my face a bit.

WORTH IT?: - well.......i love the colour, just the condition of my hair is super dry as i've dyed it SO MANY TIMES

Natural Hair type:

- fine

- straight

- long hair

- super strong and heavy [typical asian hair]

Hair History: -

-Dyed too many times (too many colours)

-Permed

- bleached

Hair color Before: asian black

Hair color After: my hair right now is like...brown? with black roots haha

Bleach?: - yes

Hair Dye: i've tried too many brands to even remember, i've also had my hair dyed at the salon a couple of times

Price: too much :(

Changes:

- Damage? - yes

- Texture change? - yes .. real dry

Comments: - um i guess i didn't really do it right, as in this wasn't a one off thing haha

but yeh i dyed my hair a lot, i've tried brown/red/red-brown etc and last summer i bleached my hair then dyed it a sorta .. brown/blonde colour and then got it permed in hong kong. after summer i went to the salon and i wanted it dyed a cute orangey brown colour but it came out purpley colour [not going there again] but then i just started using head and shoulders shampoo which strips your hair colour so now its like a sorta light browny colour lol

pics!!! -->

ahh i feel like doing something drastic color-wise to my hair. i'll post pics if i do.

but mannn i wish i had pics from my past dyeing experiences haha. i remember in 7th grade i dyed my bangs like magenta. i was a spunky little 12 yr old back then. i tried a reddish color later for all my hair. and also attempted highlighting my hair by myself at home.. BAD IDEA. never made my hair too unhealthy.

hmm haven't dyed it in a while now and it is pretty much at my natural dark brown.

^yeah, but it's not advised if you're DIY

Do you guys dye your eyebrows? I always dye my hair but never dye my eyebrows...

Brown hair looks really horrible with black eyebrows though >o<

I once did, just because it was by accident-- dyed my eyebrows orange

which was pretty bad because that time I only dyed a small portion of my hair orange

so I suggest

do it if you're careful with your eyes

and you're doing a full head dye T_T

I never dye my eyebrows. I have light, almost non-existant eyebrows  (due to over plucking lol). So I just fill it in with a different shade of pencil/powder to match my hair color. My hair color is always from black to light brown, so it usually looks pretty natural.

Yeah, I didn't dye my eyebrows when I dyed my hair. My hair isn't super noticably different so noone even notices.

I wouldn't sugguest doing it yourself though. It seems a bit scary. Leave to the professionals lol.

XD

I'm too lazy to fill out the form.

But yeah~ I've never dyed my hair before.

The sun is doing it for me XD

My hair is natural black, but now its like... a dark brown that you can see pretty well in the light.

And sometimes it'll look red/purple too... O__O

if your hair is dyed brown you can just use brown eyeshadow on your brows to fill it in

matches well for me

WORTH IT?: - Kind of

Natural Hair type:

- course

- curly

- long hair

- Dry and frizzy

Hair History: -

-Dyed countless times

-Natural

Hair color Before: Black

Picture116a-1.jpg

Hair color After:

1st time - Palty Maple chocolate

SNV31849.jpg

(Slight root regrowth here lol)

2nd time - Clairol Herbal Essense Ruby Red

SNV30237.jpg

3rd time - Sally Hansen Creme Hair bleach

SNV31855.jpg

(I know I know, SHOCKING! Lol it came out badly -_-)

4th time - Clairol Nice And Easy Natural Medium Golden Brown

SNV31921.jpgSNV31920.jpg

(With Flash it looks orangey O_o Without flash it looks brown)

Bleach?: - yes

Price: - $Dirt cheap lol

Changes:

- Damage? Very considering I dyed it so much and bleached it.

- Texture change? Before my hair was thick, kinda frizzy/dry naturally and heavy. Now it's dry, frizzy and thin. It's gotten a lot more fine then before too

Description: - I put the dye on then wrapped a plastic bag around my hair and sat by the heater for 40 minutes.

Comments: - I like the colours but I hate root regrowth. I don't recommend home-bleaching though, I had to bleach it twice because the 1st time came out so ginger because I had previous red dye in my hair.

(Haha such a long post. I'm planning on leaving my hair to grow back out now, as much as I hate root regrowth my hair is far too damaged as you can see from my last picture.)

(FYI: I don't dye my brows because my skin on my face is easily irritated by strong chemicals... I can't cover up a red rashy face lol)

Question, people with black hair, do you bleach your hair before you dye it? Or does it come out fine if you don't?

I guess if you want to dye your hair to very light colours (eg. blonde), then you have to bleach it. I didn't bleach my hair when I dyed my hair for the first time. But I got comments that the new colour of my hair wasn't really obvious cos my natural hair was blackish brown. So yeah. I heard you have to bleach you hair if you want to dye it pink?

Guest ~Shelly~

^ When I dyed my hair from black to brown, I didn't bleach it. I did bleach it (as you can see in my earliar post) before I tried to get the lighter brown shade though. It just depends on the shade and intensity of colour you want.
