Title: Getting Married

When Mr. Jeong asks YE if DH is the one she loves, YE says no, and that she loves KW instead, and at this Mr. Jeong tells DH and YE the matter is finished and DH is to give his blessing toward YE's wedding. Then, Mrs. Jeong goes to DH's room and talks to him alone...

mom: yes, it's me who made things turn out this way.. and I know how much you're hurting and angry, but it's all for you.

DH: what's for me? for the sake of our family's honor? how is our family so great? or.. what do we lack that you wish for a daughter-in-law that outshines us?

mom: i know you resent me. i don't care if you think i'm materialistic because to me you are the most important person.

DH: then you should wish for me and Yeong-Eun together even more so. is there a reason why you don't want to see me with Yeong-Eun?

mom: yes.

DH: what?

mom: she's not suitable for you.

DH: is that yet?

mom: yes.

DH: how do you know if she's suitable for me?

mom: because i know! i'm not just saying this. she doesn't suit you! she's bad omen.

DH: stop!! you have killed me, mother, your son whom you cherish so much. do you understand?

DH storms out and next day he begins to pack up his suitcase to leave, while YE gets married to KW. During the ceremony, HJ's mom notices KW's mom, and afterwars tells HJ she's sure she saw Mz. Kang somewhere from before. DH comes by and watches from behind the crowd, and aunt ES spots him out and chases after him asking him to stay for a while, but DH says he'll just go and leaves. Jinah runs after DH who ignores her, but Jinah follows him to the bar and says she'll take him to the airport but DH says he'll take care of it himself and asks her to leave while he drinks alone. After the wedding, Mrs. Jeong tells Mr. Jeong it doesn't feel real and wonders if YE will live well, and Mr. Jeong says she has to. HJ's mom cries at home and says it's regrettable that YE's parents didn't get to see their daughter getting married, and HJ's mom keeps saying she saw YE's mother-in-law from before for sure.

Mz. Kang returns home and weeps nonstop about losing KW after all these years of raising him alone, but her chauffer and distant relative, Mr. Choi and his wife, Mrs. Choi who works in the kitchen try to cheer her up saying KW isn't gone she's gaining a daughter instead. Then suddenly Mz. Kang stops crying and asks about the wedding gift money and starts counting the money in te envelopes. KW and YE arrive at their honeymoon suit, and while KW waits, YE goes into the bathroom and cries alone. Meanwhile, DH spends the night alone in the cottage on the farm. Next day, at the airport, YE and KW are about to board a plane to go on their honeymoon, and DH stand behind them watching the two leave together.

Mr. Jeong tells Mrs. Jeong he wonders if he's made a mistake since DH is their only son and he's stubborn, but Mrs. Jeong says next month when DH comes back from China they'll marry him off with Jinah fast so he can forget it all, but Mr. Jeong says not to bring that up for a while. YE and KW return from their honeymoon and visit the Jeong's. Mr. Jeong talks to KW alone and says even though YE isn't his real daughter he raised her like his own, however YE probably doesn't see them as her real parents, thus her married home might feel like her real home in a long time, and Mr. Jeong asks KW to take good care of YE. Mrs. Jeong prepares lots of food gifts for KW's family and YE is touched and thanks her, and Mrs. Jeong says YE must live well. The newlywed then goes to KW's home and Mz. Kang asks YE if she dreamed anything while on honeymoon, and YE says no, and Mz. Kang says in that case YE must not be pregnant with a honeymoon baby, and YE looks startled, and Mz. Kang then says she was just joking seeing that YE isn't at ease. YE asks her to lower her speech but Mz. Kang says she talks politely to everyone always, however the Choi's and the maid don't look convinced.

KW is eager to spend time alone with YE giving her footmassage and being affectionate with her, but he is pulled away by his mother who is upset to hear that Mr. Jeong said nothing else besides asking KW to take good care of YE, and when KW comes home from work he is eager to be with YE and Mz. Kang who eavesdrops is overwhelmed with jealousy. Next morning, YE brings tea for Mz. Kang who asks to see YE's hands, and Mz. Kang appears to be greatly concerned that YE's hands are cold and says she will prepare ginseng medicines for YE soon. Mz. Kang then asks YE how much money the Jeong's gave her, and YE says she didn't get anything, since she already received plentiful having lived there all these years and going through education and all. Mz. Kang says there's no way that the Jeong's didn't give YE anything even if YE isn't their real daughter, and YE is taken back and says she was given a 10 million won (~ 10k usd) for spending money and Mz. Kang is surprised by the small amount and dismisses YE. YE is startled by the conversation, and replays Mz. Kang's words in her mind... a week passes by and KW asks his mom when she's gonna tell YE she can get out of her hanbok since YE isn't comfortable wearing it, and Mz. Kang looks upset but tells YE she should've said something sooner and tells YE she can get out of her hanbok.

That night Mz. Kang refuses to eat and YE watches as KW goes to lengths to cheer up his mom and YE begins to get a strange vibe about the dynamics of her new family. Next day Mz. Kang calls Mz. Park the machmaker to meet and hints YE isn't as great as she might turn out but Mz. Park tells her to wait and see. As Mz. Kang returns home she sees a new car delievered from the Jeong's and thinking it's for her she runs in and calls Mrs. Jeong to say thanks but when she realizes the car is for YE and not her or KW she is upset and says to YE she should drive the car since the car isn't suitable for KW. When KW returns home he is happy for YE about the nice new car, but Mz. Kang says they should change KW"s car too or else ppl might say they're not suitable to be inlaws with the Jeong's, and YE wonders what this all means.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Jeong tells Mr. Jeong YE's mother in law seem real nice, but Mr. Jeong says only time will tell since they can't know for sure what a person is thinking privately, while YE lays awake in bed wondering what she's walked into...

I was hoping a little that they would show 2 eps yesterday to make up for the "loss" on Saturday, but...in vain

as for the preview: Mz Kang will try to borrow money from Mr Jeong? hahhahaa....she is really thick-skinned

Argh.. I missed the beginning as well .. started watching when the newlyweds returned from their honeymoon. Did DH really scold his own mother? But can imagine the anger, pain & rejection he's going through.. all at once.

Arrggh.. missed the wedding of the year.

Well.. YE actually looked happy and at ease with KW.. he does make her happy, somehow.. except that the extreme hot-cold treatment from Mz. Kang is really worrying and getting scary, to say the least.

also missed the beginning...but I saw the wedding..I really felt YE's sadness during the ceremony, and with DH just looking like he can't do anything about it...like YE's bestfriend and her mom reaction as well....it seems like KW loves YE that somehow I know YE doesn't love him that much though I also felt that at least she was happy for the meantime ...KW's mom really scary with her reaction to YE being given a car as a gift from Mr. Jeong...her reaction looks sarcastic to me and looks like in next week's episode she would buy a car also for KW...if I'm not mistaken

hi i just finished epi 3, they did get married? then what will happen to DH...I think the story will go like a vicious circle drag a bit here and there ...will DH and YE get together in the end?????I really hope they will have a good ending. It's really a long drama 50 epi, what are they going to do for the rest of the episodes?????? Hatred..love..hope will have some funny moments and characters like Love in Heaven. I really love Love in Heaven that's where I like Wang Mo (LTG) !

santa007, they get married in ep 7. I think DH and YE will end up together. Actually the MBC English introduction of this drama, see link provided by krdamafanusa, already mentions that YE will go through a messy divorce. So, nobody dies

Hope they will keep it interesting and not let it drag.

If it wasn't for the "funny & too-attached relationship" between Mz. Kang and her son, I think YE would have a shot at real happiness, finally. When she moved in to the mom-in-law's house after the honeymoon, YE was actually glowing.. with wedding bliss and all. Clearly, she's really trying to fit into the household, too.. which is natural. Finally, she has the chance to escape the 'coldness' in the Jeong home. And obviously, trying to forget the memories with DH.. being in the Jeong household, means staying too close to DH whom she could never have.

Any mother-in-law... mothers in general, would definitely let (even urge) their just-married children to spend more time with their new wives/husbands.. but not Mz.Kang. It's not like the son & his wife is living elsewhere but under the same roof. Or at the very least, include the new family member in on their activities. Anyone would feel suspicious and lonely at such a treatment.

It's sad that while YE doesn't feel at home with her adoptive family.. she's going to feel more an outcast in her husband's home.

thanks dramaok for the summary...HJ's mom saw Mrs. Kang before..something smells fishy already and Ms. Kang is slowly getting into my nerves like Mrs. Jeong, after raising YE like a daughter that was all she thought of her...that was really rude..I hope Mr. Jeong will realize it sooner...poor DH as he has to endure all the pain bcoz of the circumstances that surrounds him and YE...I really like KW but still in doubt on how he will protect her from his mom...

hi all, i just started this series and thanks so much dramaok for your awesome summaries!

is it just me or does anyone else have this nagging feeling that Mr. Jeong and YE's mom had a relationship in the past? i think maneuneun mentioned something similar, actually....

but yea! this could explain the deep-seated animosity Mrs. Jeong seems to harbor against YE and who knows? Mrs. Jeong might have some shady connection with YE parents' untimely death. I mean, considering how far korean dramas can go YE might be the illegitimate daughter of Mr. Jeong and YE's mother, thereby making YE and DH half-siblings thus explaining why their relationship can go no further.

okay and as far as KW's mom, i don't particularly agree with the casting. the actress seems better suited for less polished outspoken roles as seen in Coffee Prince and How to Meet a Perfect Neighbor. I think since those characters are still fresh in my mind, it's hard to wrap my brain around that actress playing the role of some rich manipulative old lady.

my initial instinct is to resist the relationship between YE and KW but i feel like that will start to change once YE helps KW through his multiple personalities and finds liberation from the psychological control his mother has over him with her ridiculous theatrics.

but anyway. Winter Bird looks like a good series, melodrama and all. Thanks for all the visual goodies!

I think.. maybe out of pride or whatever's left in her (?).. YE bravely showed a cheerful, happy face in front of DH. No matter how she's confused or hurting inside due to her mother-in-law's words, YE had to live better for the sake of DH.. after turning down his love.

YE does try to speak up more in her husband's presence but when they went to the Jeong's home, YE became the quiet little girl again.

Anyway.. Mz.Kang is more like a stepmother from he**!!! She fired the 2 house-help (right?) so that YE had to do all the work around the house... or was it because she's heavy in debt?
