I can't agree with you more. "little things that count", is so true. Durring DJ show, TB has always show those " little things" that he did for DJ, one of my faorites was when TB went to DJ's office when she was working all night, he saw her so tired laying down sleeping at the chair, he keened down gently covered her with his coat, and the way he looked at her, aigoooo, so sweet....

yes ^^ aww that was sweet too, and I love how TB was always there for DJ no matter what, he is her savior.. goshh, soo sweet~ LOL! TB is always to the rescue no matter what happens, his character is just too perfect it hurts~! coz we might never find a guy like him in real life ㅠ.ㅠ

or there still is, but it`s a 50-50 chance upon finding a Tae Bong in real life :D

So, about the "I LOVE YOU" thingy and how TB cant even say those words to DJ, i think it's ok for me, knowing TB is not that vocal, for me, he is the type of guy who lets "action speak louder than words" <3

anyway~~ thanks to ovette for the ep19 in SS & to creidesca in CB ^ ^

yay !!!

O gosh~ hvn't got time this morning to write my comment... watched live, (yah~*) "another, (one) of my favourite Ep(s)!!" and Yes Yes, the scene where DJ said "Saranghan Taebong ah..." is soooo sweet!! I thought Taebong will burst into tear too (when Dalja went back to sleep) but he didn't... Anyway, that scene reminded me of My Girl (although they aren't really related) But that scene just popped in my mind... Where Ju Yoo-rin (acted by: Lee Da-hae) said to Seol Gong Chan (acted by: Lee Dong-wook) that she said: "Just remind me as Ju Yoo-rin as opposed to your cousin whenever is snowing..." while Gong Chan is pretended to be sleeping in the Taxi... Anyway... Mmm... (bk to DJ Spr.) I agree that it is those "little thing" that TB did that make me like "wow... so sweet" although he "still" hvn't said I love you... but I also think that TB is the type of guy who lets "action speak louder than words" as amene~matsuo said!!

Anyway, thanks for the preview~ btw, how come there are so many "kids"... it must be one of the dreams that DJ has on her mind~ properly is related to as the preview said, both sides' mother asked DJ about the marriage thingy... then DJ just has this weird dream on her mind again... :)

Thanks Creidesca, for the HQ... downloading it right now, spent 1000 pt for quick download~* :)

Thanks ovette for uploading ep 19 so early. I enjoyed it, now I can wait patiently for the subbed one to come out. If someone could please translate what Dal Jas and Tae Bong's grandfather was talking about, he seem to be so happy with Dal Jas.

ALSO WHAT DID DJ'S MOM TELL TB?? SOMETHING WITH THE MONEY? i think it was one of the reasons why TB decided to go to being a lawyer.

okay i just watched the first part of episode 19.

are you talking about the part when dalja's mom comes to him at dalja's apartment?

his mom basically says

ever since i got into the restaurant business, i couldnt do much for my daughter. i couldnt buy her the things she wanted and i couldnt allow her to do the things she wanted to do.

when she was young, she begged me to allow her to go to a private studying institute but i told her no.

later, she found out by chance that it was because we didnt have enough money to spare.

it was around that time, she never asked for monetary things again. never asked for me to do something for her or buy something for her ever again.

even if her socks had holes, even if she was uncomfortable, she never complained. she never asked for something.

thats the kind of girl she is.

how can i send such a kind girl to you?

if you do the restaurant business, you wont be able to provide for my daughter so how can i allow this relationship?

thats like.. basically what she says is

she doesnt really think taebong will amount to much.

not because she's mean but because she wants the best for her daughter.

ps. i am TOTALLY anticipating the moment that taebong will tell dalja that he loves her too.

assuming that it WILL happen. haha of course it will. it has to.

ohwow. the moment will be... MAGICAL hahah

the ONLY thing that bothers me about taebong is that i wish he'd take a BIT more ownership of dalja.

i mean.. he's quick to say that he's over his ex and that now he's with someone else

but whenever she clings on him.. i wish he'd discreetly shake her off. or not discreetly. like push her off or something.

It's better he not do 'anything' because remember how he and ex-GF broke up? She wanted a reaction from him, and should he 'react' now, wouldn't she be getting what she wanted? Wouldn't it demonstrate the existence of feelings on TB's part for ex-GF?

but still. if i were dalja..

i would hate to see sujin hanging all over taebong and him not doing anything about it...

and letting sujin link arms with him and put her head on his shoulder (judging by the episode 20 preview)

but i totally get what you're saying too.

it seems to me that the conversation was the turning factor for taebong's return to the law firm which means..

he's doing this totally for dalja.

ps. i am TOTALLY anticipating the moment that taebong will tell dalja that he loves her too.

assuming that it WILL happen. haha of course it will. it has to.

ohwow. the moment will be... MAGICAL hahah

I thought it was what TB's father had to say to him that had the greater affect? The title of this episode is 'Living As A Man.. That's The Way It Is' and I'm guessing his father talked to him of such?

but still. if i were dalja..

i would hate to see sujin hanging all over taebong and him not doing anything about it...

but i totally get what you're saying too.

For TB not to 'react' is to dissuade ex-GF, because should he 'react' she'll continue her clinging ways.

hahah you're probably right.

as stated in my previous post, i only watched the first half of the episode

and i shouldnt have said what i said without watching the full episode first

cause i see there are other factors to it.

like the convo with taebong's dad and dalja paying for his fee with her marriage fund money.

hahah i think i'm just getting too excited

arggghhh my dl's not done with ep19 yet.. but reading all ur comments im looking forward to it. i thought it would be bad but thank goodness its not.. actually, its ep20 that i think will be a sad especially when ex and TB works together.

in the preview, i think TB will hurt DJ coz i hear hims ay "mian he"

oh noh, im wondering what will happen to SJ and SD i hope SD passes the test though! i think maybe DJ dreams of it but is still having her own thoughts and anxiety in a way. iam excited to hear the 3 magic words from TB. it will be something.

but whenever she clings on him.. i wish he'd discreetly shake her off. or not discreetly. like push her off or something.

Actually I feel the same way..when the Ex gf purposely held his hand when he was picking up the files, he just let it be :o I was expecting that he'll just casually pull away. But she held his hand like for the longest time!! Then in the preview when the Ex rested her head on his shoulder again he just looked at her and let it be!!!! Of course to be fair I didn't understand a word they were saying and we haven't even watched Epi20. But still I didn't feel that was very responsible of him.

But it was very clear she was making a move on him. TB would know. I don't think TB would be the kind to abide by her biding just to keep his job.. so I just don't feel good about it. :( And oh no!! Poor DJ's gonna run into them tonight!! :(

It's better he not do 'anything' because remember how he and ex-GF broke up? She wanted a reaction from him, and should he 'react' now, wouldn't she be getting what she wanted? Wouldn't it demonstrate the existence of feelings on TB's part for ex-GF?

I was thinking the the context here is different. I think to not to do anything would be to encourage her. His not rejecting her advances would be translated into that she still have a chance with him and that he still may not have gotten over her. She'll even be more aggressive to achieve what she set out to do feeling that it's within grasp :( .

But I was thinking that since TB is such a cool guy probably he just deemed it not important to do anything, he need not be petty about little things like these. The most important thing is that he knows whom his heart is with. At the party, when the ex linked her hand to his, and he let it be, I would deem it as graciousness, social ethics. But knowing that the Ex is trying to make advances at a personal level when they are alone together and still play along with it... Hmm.... Mayb I'm too protective of our DJ huh

Also I was thinking about the part when DJ confessed her feelings to the supposedly "sleeping" TB. Wouldn't he be elated for such confession? It was so sweeeeet!! Yet when he opened his eyes and looked at the sleeping DJ, he was pensive  . And rightly as someone mentioned he didn't even smile. He seemed to be weigh down but something.. What do you guys think? Was he feeling bad because...

1) he felt a sense of responsblity that he shd do more for the person he loves ? (the preview mentioned something about responsibility)

2) he wasn't ready for that level of commitment himself and can't bring himself to say the same to her?

Still wondering..

i was a bit disappointed too when TaeBong didnt even have any reaction when the ex was doing moves on him. TaeBong knows of the ex's plans, since we all know he's very sensitive in these kind of things and for sure, he knows what the ex is up to. but he didnt even make an effort to take the hand away from him. or to not allow the ex to lean on him. i think he thinks that no one can see him anyway so he let her be, and so as not to make things bigger than it is. but as seen in the preview DalJa saw it! im just afraid this will cause another fight from the red string couple.

but i also understood what creidesca was saying that if TaeBong reacts, the more the ex would be clingy. because if TaeBong tries to avoid her, she will try more means to approach TaeBong.

i think TaeBong decided to go back as a lawyer due to a lot of circumstances. it's not totally for DalJa i suppose. there was the convo b/w his dad, and also DJ's mom. it was due to all the factors surrounding him. also we might say, TaeBong is a very determined man and he doesnt care what others may think of him, the decision may be brought about by as the ep's title says, how it is to live as a man. to use his maximum potential and take the lead, not just being content on running a simple bento shop.. because he has sooo much more to give than being a bento shop owner. that's what i think.

cant wait for the moment that TaeBong would say those THREE MAGICAL WORDS...! i hope it would be a very special scene.

hu`m, i dont know what's good about the surgeon drama, it did not attract me at all( sorry to those who like it), i think DJS should be more attractive than that one, but anyway, it IS attractive for me and for you guys too, right? I am waiting for the new ep in mega, men, I could not stop thinking about what is happening, eventhough i read the summary, and some comment from you guys, better to see it with my own eyes, right? i really could not guess about the end of this drama, anyway waiting for the coming one is more important.

Im not sure about that either, the thoughts have crossed my mind. I dont know why either, it actually puzzling.

But ariel, i think its a bit of both reasons. I think TB has some apprehensions, maybe because he doesnt feel to happy in his old job i think. He may be good at it, it makes people around him happy which is a reason why he continues on. But i get the impression like his heart isnt fully in it.. I have to see ep 20 to fully get it actually. It seems to be he is torn between responsibilty and emotions.

The ep summary is here!

Episode 19: What It Is To Live As A Man

0000hb8.jpg

Dal Ja recaps her past relationships as she jumps (literally) over their "hurdles" -- there was the womanizer, the married man, the younger man, the parents' disapproval... But running toward Tae Bong, she thought she'd finally arrived at happiness, when his past suddenly appeared.

0023cr9.jpg

0009rk8.jpg

0015fd5.jpg

0018th9.jpg

Not knowing Tae Bong is in the hospital....

0025sh9.jpg

...Dal Ja meets with Su Jin, who makes her intentions clear. She wants Tae Bong back, and still loves him. She's confident she can get him back, because he can't easily let go of someone from his past like her. She goes on to say: "Has he ever said he loves you? I thought not. He's not the type of guy who can say what he doesn't feel." (That may be true, but Su Jin knows he has never said those words to anyone, not just Dal Ja. Of course, she fails to add that little detail.)

Dal Ja wonders to Seon Joo what should she do about it. Should she tell Tae Bong that Su Jin came to see her? Should she argue with him? Just then, she gets a phone call from Tae Bong, and jumps right into giving him a piece of her mind:

0040ts6.jpg

"Hey, Kang Tae Bong. Good timing. Do you know who I met today? Your ex-girlfriend, Jang Su Jin. She still has feelings for you."

(Seon Joo: "Are you satisfied just saying that?")

So Dal Ja continues: "You! What's wrong with your actions that someone like that has to come see me? Why the heck do I have to put up with hearing that from her?"

(Seon Joo: "You're beating around the bush, like always.")

Getting more worked up: "I really hate people like her. So you'd better make sure she doesn't come looking for me again. If this happens again, I'm done with you. We'll be finished. The end. Over!"

And the person on the other end of the line finally has a chance to speak: it's the hospital, calling for Tae Bong's guardian.

Dal Ja rushes into the hospital looking for Tae Bong. Seon Joo points him out -- he's covered in bandages, bloodied, unconscious. The doctor says things don't look very good, and she'd better prepare herself for the worst. Dal Ja begs Tae Bong to wake up, crying and afraid.

0048fg3.jpg

And.... and a nearby bed, the real Tae Bong sits up, recognizing Dal Ja's voice. He wonders why Dal Ja's crying over the other guy. Seon Joo realizes it was her mistake; the guy had a similar jawline to Tae Bong, so she assumed it was him. Oops.

0062sq9.jpg

At home, Tae Bong jokes about how it was funny that Dal Ja could mistake someone else for him. Dal Ja asks if he's really okay, and he assures her he's completely fine. "You're really fine?" "I'm really fine." So she kicks him hard in the shins.

0076vj8.jpg

She demands, how could he say it was fun?! Doesn't he know how scared she was? When she heard he was hurt, everything went black and she couldn't see anything in front of her, she was so worried. Dal Ja really seems to have been shaken up, and Tae Bong realizes she's serious.

0089cx3.jpg

0097hu7.jpg

While he's sleeping, Dal Ja thinks back to their fight from before, over Tae Bong going back to the law firm. Dal Ja tells the sleeping Tae Bong, "I love you. I really love you a lot. Do you know that?"

Her narration tells us: "I'm 33 years old. This is the first time I've said 'I love you' to a man. More than any other words I'd ever spoken in my life, these were the most precious and moving words I'd ever said. I love you, Kang Tae Bong."

Dal Ja falls asleep, and Tae Bong opens his eyes as he watches her sleep.

0109iv2.jpg

Dal Ja returns the money envelope to Tae Bong's mother, who thinks Dal Ja's being foolish. Dal Ja says she'd like Tae Bong to go back to the law firm too, but it's more important that he follow his heart. Afterward, she extracts her entire savings from the bank.

0135sk5.jpg

Dal Ja's mom comes to her apartment and runs into the injured Tae Bong. She says that Dal Ja never got to do the things she wanted to do, because of her mother always working in a small lunch shop.

0119xq7.jpg

"In the third grade, she begged so much for piano lessons for three days and nights, I spanked her so hard she couldn't sit. Later, she learned it was because I had no money. From then on, she never asked me to buy her anything, or do anything for her, not once. If she got a hole in her sock so her heel stuck out, she never said anything, in case it would make her mother feel bad, in case her mother wouldn't have money. That's the kind of person Dal Ja is. Because of me, she can't stand to see others struggling. How can I give someone like that to your care? Someone without a future or skills, how can I? Knowing that yourself, how can I consent to you? Isn't that so? If you really treasure my daughter, then try and find a better occupation. But this isn't it. I can't consent to this. Do you understand?"

Dal Ja takes Tae Bong out to eat and gives him an enrollment slip for classes. She assures him she didn't use his mother's money -- she gave that back. He wonders where the money came from, and she tells him it's from her fund she was saving for her wedding. But he shouldn't worry, he shouldn't feel burdened by it. She did it because she wanted to, and with a joyful heart. So he should accept it easily.

Sae Do becomes angry and jealous, seeing a strange older man around Seon Joo, thinking she's already moved on. When he sees the man enter Seon Joo's apartment, he demands to know who the guy is, and tells him he's deeply involved with Seon Joo. The guy turns out to be her father.

0147rv2.jpg

They sit down for a talk, and Sae Do nervously answers his questions about his age, background, etc.

0155ie3.jpg

0149vb8.jpg

Sae Do takes out Seon Joo and her father for dinner and wine, and is alarmed at the ridiculously high prices he's forced to pay. Seon Joo's father knows he's putting him in a difficult position, but Sae Do wants to impress him, so he goes along. But it seems the father is trying to teach Sae Do a lesson about being a man.

0187cn9.jpg

Tae Bong has a drink with his father, who gives him some advice:

0160cj0.jpg

"When a man loves, responsibility follows. It's good to run toward your goals ahead of you, but doing that can leave the woman behind, lonely. I've only ever run looking ahead, so I made your mother lonelier. You said you didn't want to be like me. Then, think about what you can do for your woman. A man lives not just for himself, but taking care of others. That's what it means to live as a man."

0167ib6.jpg

So Tae Bong goes back to the law firm. They then visit Dal Ja's mother and grandmother, who are happy to hear the news. Then they go to Tae Bong's family, who are equally thrilled that he went back. Tae Bong's grandfather takes to Dal Ja immediately, because she knows how to talk to him and flatter him appropriately.

0193gk6.jpg

0197nt9.jpg

Tae Bong's mother is threatened that Dal Ja is stealing her father's affection, but his father tells her not to worry. He'll treat her with enough affection to make up for the loss. They're also going to start sharing rooms again, after a year of sleeping apart. Looks like he really has decided to try hard to make his wife happy.

0211ty3.jpg

Dal Ja's happy, but worries that he only went back to his job because of her. She would have been okay with him pursuing his dreams. Tae Bong says that she shouldn't feel burdened; he feels fine, going back to being a lawyer. He gives her the money back for his classes, telling her not to try to work out her problems alone in the future, since they'll do them together from now.

Meanwhile, at work, there's rampant rumors and confusions about a possible merger with another department or company, which would mean lots of jobs being lost. Kang Team Manager tries to keep everyone calm, but the news has spread and people are worried.

At the law firm:

0230vc7.jpg

0231tf4.jpg

0232jy7.jpg

Su Jin: "It was no fun coming to work everyday without seeing your face. Now that you're back, it'll become fun again."

Tae Bong: "I didn't come back here for your amusement."

Su Jin: "In the year I haven't seen you, you've turned even more into a man. Your jawline's become more perfect, and your gaze is deeper."

Tae Bong: "Stop kidding around. Don't waste your energies on that on my first day, and move aside."

Su Jin: "Ah, you're no fun. You don't blush at that anymore."

And Tae Bong finds out the mergers & acquisitions case he's working on is for Handa Home Shopping...
