the background song just went 'and i will always love you' while TaeBong shields DalJa in slow motion. THAT CRACKED ME UP BIG TIME! and did you notice halmoni have smiling? lol!

I know! The song was featured in Whitney Houston's movie 'The Bodyguard' and Min Ki had also previously played a bodyguard.

thanks for the cut creidesca!

sorry guys, probably won't be able to upload ep16 until tomm

I've been avoiding this thread for the last couple of days for fear of spoilers..But since I've now seen both episodes 15 and 16, I'm itching to share my thoughts. :sweatingbullets:

I'm a little disappointed they didn't go more indepth with the abortion issue. When I thought SJ had actually gone through with it, I was pretty amazed. I had never seen a K-drama before where a "good" girl gets an abortion. I thought to myself, "Wow! This drama is taking a risk or two!". But then...well...You all know what happened. <_<

It's not that I think SJ should have gotten the abortion without SD's input...I do think she was being needlessly stubborn and almost idiotically independent...But I wish that they hadn't added those sanctimonious shades to the issue. Girl decides to get an abortion. Girl ignores what her partner says about it. Girl goes to get the operation. Girl chickens out at the last minute. Girl then becomes Happy Mommy, preparing for the pregnancy. I've seen this situation happen in K-dramas (especially family dramas) over and over again, and I really did not need to see it again here.

Socially speaking, this was a good chance to show the deeper sides of abortion, and to show that, in the end, it is the woman's choice, and that we should never criticize a woman for making that choice. I was really glad to see that DJ and SD didn't scold SJ for doing what she had apparently did. But still...They didn't treat the issue so flippantly like they do in family dramas, but I do think they could have gone deeper with it. Korea has some of the biggest rates of child abandonment in the world. Why? Because women are told that abortion is a shameful choice. And so they end up abandoning their babies on doorsteps, at orphanages, or even in dumpsters.

I wish this drama had shown that side of it. I wish they had gone a little deeper. Still, I don't think they handled it too clumsily, and I'm grateful they went near the topic at all. I guess Korea's just not ready for that yet...

Anyway, to back away from that topic...I liked that DJ and TB went through with the deed. :D Although I think that scene was a little clumsily handled as well. And I liked when TB said "Honestly, I like you better now". It's quite a truthful thing to say, and something that I suspect many men think, but never vocalize. It's not that he likes that she "put out" for him. It's that he feels a stronger connection to her now, after sex. I think a lot of men (and women!) feel that way after sleeping together. It's nice that this drama showed that side of it.

I also liked that TB didn't say "I love you" after doing the deed. You know, on this week's Ya Shim Man Man, they asked men what they do for their girlfriends out of duty and need, and the third most popular answer was "I tell her I love her even though I don't feel that way". :( Women have a need to hear the words, and men know that, so they feel pressured to say it before they're ready to. And women believe them. How sad.

I really liked these episodes, although I sort of miss the focus on DJ's work and career. They've been concentrating a wee bit too much on the romance lately, in my opinion. But whatever. TB's a sweetie. But does anyone else miss the old TB, the carefree and boyish one, who snoozed at his friend's clothing stall and was at times startled by DJ's occasional wisdom? *sigh* I miss that mysterious and almost childish side to him, to be honest.

But Lee Min Ki seriously made me cry in episode sixteen. That scene outside his dad's hotel room door...The way he teared up... :tears: What a great scene! My God...This guy has a lot of potential, all right. I'd better keep an eye on him. :P

Nice insight you've got there...it was an interesting read.^_^

I agree that Korea might not be ready for that, inclining towards women deciding on whether they should or should not abort. Personally, I'm against abortion. But I've read about factors leading women to make such decisions and it's definitely not an easy decision to make. But I guess the series wanted to depict the traditional perception of the Korean society, and that such acts are despicable and unacceptable. I assume a lot of viewers wouldn't want to see SJ abort the baby.. I'm not saying that you'd implied it that way. I just think maybe, in the end, the PD was just trying to suit the taste of majority audience.

But you're actually right about the whole abortion thingy..the whole process from the girl deciding to get one and in the end givin up because she's to scared to get one. We see this all the time huh? But I duno, I guess for me, I'd feel better if the girl doesn't get one. And it's just me..I guess when I watch dramas and movies, I just don't have the time to think about the issues you've pointed out. After all, a drama will always be a drama..:D

aiiiiigoooo.... you guys are seriously killing me!!! since I don't understand a lick of Korean, I don't want to go and watch the raw files and ruin the surprises. It's taking everything ounce of will power I have not to read through everyone's replies and spoilers.... and I'm failing even at that. Have to admit, I've cheated a bit and skimmed through some of the spoilers... that's why I'm so excited! Can't wait to watch eps 11-16. Haven't been this excited or engrossed in a drama since My Girl. This is such an awesome drama!!! Thank you so so much the subbers and uploaders, for all your hardwork. I look forward to the next episode! *Not going to read the spoilers.... not going to read the spoilers* *tip toes over and peak at the spoilers* :D

Since everyone is so into the issue of abortion, i was wondering like in the case of Sun Joo and Se DO, they are experienced adults, one having married before and the other a lady's man....how come they don't take precautions? Especially Se Do who sleeps around, don't he ever think about wearing the C? That's being irresponsible not to mention having unsafe sex!!!! Now I wonder any of his previous ladies got pregnant by him or not beside Sun Joo ^_^ We are living in the 21st century unlike the old old days people had no C so the only way when they get pregnant is to have the baby....that is why our forefathers had such high "production rate"!!

^ I'm not really sure about the safe sex thingy..but isn't there a possibility of getting pregnant even if you've taken precautions? I duno but i've heard that the C's only 99% safe.. SJ's striken by that 1% i guess..

I think this drama is trying to play it up as, those who love each other will have the child. Like it was mentioned above, SD did sleep around with lots of women but they didn't get pregnant. But SJ and SD have the baby because they really love each other. I know this isn't the case in real life, but it is a drama so yeah.

Condoms range from being 84 to 98% effective. It depends on the expiration date, and whether they are being used properly (whether they used two at once, any lubrication, whether SD or SJ kept them in a non-humid area, etc. etc).

The best way to avoid pregnancy is by using two birth control methods at the same time, such as condoms AND the Pill.

Obviously, SD and SJ failed to use that second method.

This makes me wonder whether DJ and TB used ANY methods at all, considering how quickly and spontaneously they fell into the whole thing... <_< Romantic, I'm sure, but hardly safe or responsible.

I think this drama is trying to play it up as, those who love each other will have the child.

But SJ decided not to have the abortion by herself. SD had nothing to do with it.

P.S. About the doors thing...Didn't TB come out the morning after from the bathroom? And DJ came out from her room...So I just figured that he went to wash up, while she changed...

ahah yes... in ep 15... to clarify that dj came out of her room to go to work sneakily... presumably she must have been alone in the room before leaving for work.... her guess was tb went back to his room thus she keep looking at his door... but turns out he came out of the bathroom.. initially i thought they came out of the same room... so i watched it again... he came out of the bathroom onto the small hallway until he reach the hall opening... so it might have looked like he came out of dj's room lol... i have also realised tat dj has tone down her eyeliner a bit as seen from ep 16... she looked better that way... younger... and the flashback of tb mom's love story was hilarious... tb's dad & dj's mum running ard trees giggling.. lol and tb's mum slumbing against a tree watching the scene....

and i just have to say this out.. tb's mum's voice is totally irritating

but didn't TB also say that he wouldn't have gone into her room if he didn't...?

Maybe the words 'I love you' has something to do w/ this past love of his?? And why he doesn't say it?

creidesca, he said, "Actually, my feelings for you deepened after that night. If I thought you were burdensome, I wouldn't have gone into your room in the first place."

Also, in episode 16, when his grandfather asked him if he was thinking about marriage with DJ, TB answered, "No. Neither of us have thought as far as marriage. Marriage is a result, not a goal. When one sets marriage as one's goal from the start, when one measures, matches, and calculates this and that to get married, what's the point of marriage? One will end up like Father and Mother, who have no love for each other and tire each other for the rest of their lives. I don't want to get married like that. DJ and I currently like each other. If those feelings deepen, then at that point we might even get married." (Ep. 16, 23:30)

So many of your predictions about TB's family relations came true in episode 16. I cried three times in this episode: when TB told his mother he endures what she does because she is his mother; when TB told his father the reason he left home was because he didn't want to become a man like him; and when TB told his father that he always hoped to have a real father-son talk with him.

I don't know if anyone's interested, but these scenes are worth writing down even for myself.

Ep. 16 4:55

M: What are you doing standing there? Hurry and go change your clothes.

TB: Since I've escorted you home, I'll head off now.

M: Huh? What do you mean you're leaving? Where are you going again? It can't be... you don't mean you're going back to that Sponge Hair's apartment?

TB: First, I'll have to go back to Master Teacher's restaurant. The things you turned over, I need to put back.

M: Do you really want to see your mother go mad with grief and die?

TB: Please stop now. I don't want to be any more disappointed in you, Mother.

M: TB, I'm your mother! Get it? I'm your MOTHER!

TB: I know. I know very well. That's why I'm tolerating as much as I am. Because you're my mother. Since it's my mother's doing, I'm enduring it.

M: What did you just say? Are you finished now? HUH?

D: What's the commotion? TB? What are you doing at home? It can't be... you haven't come home for good, have you?

TB: No. Mother barged into the restaurant.

D: Then... (to TB's mother) It can't be... you didn't...?

M: That's right. I went there. I went there and met Jung Ae. I met her and turned over everything in that damn restaurant. What are you going to do about it? Aigoo, my fate. My only husband frequents the restaurant of his first love! My only son has fallen for and is cohabiting with her daughter! How can this be? How can my husband and my son stab me in the back like this? [*literally, "hit and beat me in the back of my head"] Aigoo, my difficult life! Aigoo!

D: Be quiet.

M: Why? Are you ashamed that your son discovered you're having an affair? Are you embarrassed?

D: CAN'T YOU BE QUIET?

M: WHY IS YOUR VOICE SO LOUD? DON'T YOU KNOW WHO'S THE ONE AT FAULT? My God, you're a university dean. You carry yourself like you have so much class. How could you do this to me? Don't you know how I took care of you for the last 30 years? To you, what am I? For the last 30 years, what have I been to you?

D: (leaves)

M: Husband!

More later... unless someone else would like to jump in and translate.

thanks for poiting this out.. ill rewatch the epi im curious.. about the abortion thing, there have been dramas that seemingly have the same plot sometimes that the girl gets pregnant out of the blue and it either results to them getting together or them or the guy abadoning the girl and the baby kind of story. i just noticed something tell me if its just me, but lee minki/taebong seems to be wearing contact lens when they close up on his eyes. there's just a tiny hint of a line or shape of the lens. it usually happens coz i have contacts too and sometimes that's how i look for my contacts .. a bit of OT here, i've been talking to a friend who's fave drama is MNKSS we were arguing about leading men in these types of dramas, i was comparing TB to HyunBin's character there. Their situation is sort of familiar (i.e. liking an older woman, rich etc) but i think that i like TB's character in comparison (don't get mad, MNKSS fans). In his many pros and cons, the way TB is no matter how idealistic i think that he is a overall good person and somebody who knows what he wants and goes for it. He isn't that kind of arrogant, but in the right places he asserts his place. I think this was on discuission before too, what do you guy's think?

cafeaulait, thanks for the translations.. :) im curious about the next scenes if you could continue.. i hate TB's mom, although i know the motivations behind etc. i can understand the dad in a way too. i just can't relate with the mom.

Just finished Ep 15, loved it!! The scene where TB & DJ running in the rain gives me such a warm and fuzzy feeling. You just know they're gonna be ok. They'll sort things out and their relationship will be stronger after that.

TB is more mature, assertive and confident as compare to HB's character in MNKSS. That probably comes from his background as a lawyer in a respectable firm. And TB is more thoughtful and considerate too. *sigh.. he'll be the perfect boyfriend already. Someone who knows when to be firm and when to tender...

Min Ki wears/needs glasses; if you look at photos, taken candidly by friends/fan, before he became popular as he is now, you'd see him with glasses. He also did mention in one of his interviews that his eyes get irritated easily, leading those at the photoshoots to think he was tired/angry in his modeling days.

i was confused with DalJa's door too! because the previous shot when TaeBong barged in DalJa's room showed TaeBong going to the right side. then in the morning, DalJa came out from the left side room. so i though that was a mistake. after reading your confirmations, i realized it turned out the video first shot was taken opposite the bathroom door, while the morning shot was facing the bathroom.. what a confusion!

with the abortion, i think the drama did justice to the social issue. for me, this drama is about women empowerment. if SunJoo aborts the baby, doesnt it show some kind of weakness on her part?

and can someone post the panel for episode 17? FOUND IT! although i cant quite interpret it. arent the 4 going on a double date that is why the panel was drawn that way? but why was SeDo looking away from SunJoo?
