Why is there a need to have double eyelids??

did you even read the thread? the first part of my post talks about why you could consider getting the surgery. another reason is for personal satisfaction.

Am I a good candidate for aesthetic eyelid surgery?
Any one or combination of the following conditions may indicate that you are a good candidate for eyelid surgery:

---excess skin obscuring the natural fold of the upper eyelids
---loose skin hanging down from the upper eyelids, perhaps impairing vision
---puffy appearance to the upper eyelids, making the eyes look tired
---excess skin and fine, creepy wrinkles of the lower eyelids
---bags and dark circles under the eyes, often with a depression along the bony border of the lower eyelids
---droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (colored portion of the eye)

Aesthetic eyelid surgery can usually correct these problems, though other treatments may also need to be considered.

when you first get ssangkapeul surgery, don't you have to get it done really big or bigger than how you want it because as time goes by, it'll get smaller and smaller and eventually look like you didn't get it done at all? your eyes look great but I just heard this somewhere that a girl got it done but it's barely noticable that she has ssankapeul because it's so small.

    reply back please^^

yeah i was worried about that, but that was all part of the consultation. i told him that, but he said if i wanted it any bigger, it wouldnt look right on me. there's more to just getting what you would like your eyes to look like, and what is actually achievable that would look natural and right for you. he took different factors into consideration and told me what he, as the professional, thought. i just trusted his judgement and let him do his job. haha.

    My mom got hers done when she was in colleeg, 20+ years ago, and hers still look great... It didn't shrink at all ^^ and the technology is better now so I don't think it will shrink drastically o_O;;

i was wondering...if you want the fat out of your lids, do you HAVE TO get your ssankgapul by the cutting method?

yes i think so, otherwise i dont know how they would take it out...haha. because it's just partial incision, full incision, and pinching. the first two take the fat out.

wow I love the results. your eyes look pretty.
I heard that as you get older the ssankapul goes away & you have to get it redone or something. is that true?

I'll post my experience, I've been getting loads of PMs about my surgery so here it goes!

    WHEN: Mid-march
WHERE: Apkujung (in Seoul, Korea) REAL COSMETIC CLINIC
    WEBSITE: http://www.realcosmetic.com
    DOCTOR: forgot image

My entire process took only one day.
3:00 PM went to talk with the assistant who asked questions like:
    - What are you looking for?
    - How big?
She told me the differences between incision/non incision.
Used a metal tool to suggest some ideas of what would look best AND natural for me.
Doctor came and just went into details about the process, before/after, and gave the exact idea of what my ssang ga pul would look like.

6 hours later (no eating whatsoever, not even water) it was time for surgery.

Got into a gown, took my before pictures, wore a shower cap and I just layed in a dentist-looking chair.
I didnt feel any shots, they just put numbing cream all over my eyes and waited a good 10 minutes.
During the whole surgery process, there was no pain, but I could feel heat (because of the bright light), I just felt the string (stitches string) going over my face, and them pulling my eyelid. The nurse would constantly ask me to look up at this number they have on the ceiling and never to close my eyes (blinking is okay), so basically i just sat there patiently, they were doing there thing, next thing you know, 30 minutes later i'm done.

The nurse escorted me into a nice room, if i felt dizzy she gave me the option to lie down for a couple minutes or hours until i was better. fortunately, i was feeling completley fine and i just went home.
They gave me medication for 10 days, anti-bacteria cream, and 2 icepacks.

So basically, my eyes were huge and swollen for a good 2 weeks.

    here are some pictures:

    BEFORE:

    2-3 WEEKS WITH EYELINER:

NOW (JUST TOOK THIS RIGHT NOW image):

so its been a good 3 1/2 months since surgery.

hope that helped everyone even though it was VERY brief lol..

wow, that's fast... just one day... nice results though... it would be nicer if you could take a picture of your eye when your looking straight ahead instead of looking down at an angle.. do you have before pictures too?

My procedure was done at a clinic called MeeEenManDeulKi(미인만들기) in Shinsa-Dong(신사동) right down the street from BK Clinic. The reason why I chose my clinic was because, for one, the doctor didn't freak me out. The staff at BK just seemed so impersonal. The clinic I went to had extremely nice nurses and the doctor was nice. BK is a big time clinic whereas MeeEenManDeulKi only had one doctor and a team of three nurses.

    The Consultation

I met with the doctor and he asked me questions like why I wanted to get my surgery and so on. Then, he took his tool and showed me a few examples and asked me which one I liked best. Then, he asked me if there was any particular celebrity whose eyes I liked. He did make sure to tell me that it probably wouldn't turn out exactly like hers because everyone's eye structure is different.

    The Procedure

I went in and cleaned my face and they gave me a shirt to wear. I laid down on the bed and the nurses took about twenty minutes trying to put the IV into my arm because my vein kept hiding. This is when I started freaking out. I was so confident before the procedure but when I was actually lying on the table, I started to get scared. The doctor came in and turned on a cd (which had 윤도현-사랑했나봐 on it, I fell in love with the song!) and sat down and calmed me down. Then, he took out his blue marker and made a few marks on my eyes and nose(I also had a rhinoplasty). After that, he told me that the anesthesia was going to kick in and everything went blank. The doctor later told me that they put me to sleep so that I wouldn't feel the shots they had to put in my face. I could feel myself waking up from the anesthesia and all I really remember is the bright light and the machine that kept beeping. I couldn't feel anything because my face was numb. It wasn't the horrible kind of numb you get when getting cavities filled, though.

I could feel that he was cutting and stitching but I didn't feel an ounce of pain. After the procedure, I went to the recovery room. The procedure was not bad at all. It was the recovery process that was horrible. I laid down on the bed but I was so cold that my lips were blue and I was shivering. The nurses had to bring in a heater for me, in the middle of summer! Then the nurses gave me a green tea milkshake and I was allowed to go home. Once I got home I just kept falling in and out of consciousness. I'd wake up drenched in sweat and then fall asleep; wake up freezing cold and fall asleep. It was only for a day, though. After that, I was fine. I took several pills three times a day and couldn't wash my face. The third day I went back in for a checkup and the doctor changed my bandages, took out a few stitches and I had to get a shot in my buttcheek, which was antibiotics. I went in for three more checkups, the last checkup was when all the stitches and bandages came off.

I really like how my eyes turned out. The inner corner is what looks like KimTaeHee's eyes. The fold is not too big, not too small.

i got the non-incision method. they pinched two dots and stitched one area
(i also got my inner corner cut/stitched)
of course they shrank, they were swollen like no other and slimmed down as months went by.

the doctor knew english very well, my krn is very limited so i started speaking konglish to the doctor but he was like, "dont worry, you can speak english to me, i understand"

lol thats like describing one of my eyes. I have one double eyelid and another single image it looks so dumb >< but im not considering surgery just yet, maybe if i grow a bit more it'l turn into a double xD
your so brave! i must praise you for that. Id probably faint at the sight of needles.
