'Silver screen' beauty Maxima holds her own against Victoria's Secret angel

Attending a red carpet do with a Victoria's Secret beauty would be an intimidating prospect for your average woman.



But with her sunny, generous personality Princess Maxima of the Netherlands looked perfectly at ease, sharing the limelight with Dutch cover girl Doutzen Kroes at a film premiere.

And, the vivacious royal more than held her own in the glamour stakes.



Svelte in a one-shoulder black gown, her blonde tresses caught in a chignon, Maxima could have been mistaken for a silver screen heroine. The dazzling effect was completed by diamond drop earrings and bracelets.

Her prince, the heir to the country's throne, Willem-Alexander was smart in a tux.

Doutzen, meanwhile, was lovely in a strapless creation that finished in a full tulle skirt.

The two ladies had teamed up to promote the model's debut film.



Nova Zembla, the first Dutch 3D movie, tells the story of a16th-century expedition to the Arctic, with Doutzen as the girlfriend of one of the crew members, who must wait anxiously for news of her beloved.

'So many good things have happened': Willem pays tribute to Maxima on tenth anniversary

Ten years after a vivacious Argentine banker walked down the aisle to become Crown Princess Maxima, she and her prince are happier than ever.

"These ten years have flown by, so many good things have happened to us and, of course, we are going to celebrate it," Willem-Alexander, told local television channel RTL.

With the Dutch media reporting that the couple will celebrate in Qatar, Alexander appears to have whisked his wife away for a romantic anniversary holiday.

Maxima would only say: "Of course we will celebrate it together. But we are going to keep the plans to ourselves."

The couple met in 1999 in Spain during the Feria de Abril festival in Seville.

Three daughters followed their lavish wedding on February 2, 2002: Amalia, nine, Alexia, seven and Ariane, five.

Dutch royals smiling again as orange fever takes over on Queen's Day

The sky was blue and filled with ticker tape – it was the perfect atmosphere for a party.

During their country's national holiday, the Dutch royals threw themselves wholeheartedly into the spirit of the festivities.

'Orange fever' traditionally sweeps the Netherlands on Koninginnedag or Queen's Day – held annually on April 30 in honour of the monarch.

And, making a monumental effort to put their grief over Prince Johan Friso's accident to one side, Beatrix and her family joined in the madcap activities associated with the occasion.

For her exuberant daughter-in-law Maxima there was some wheely fun as she took part in a cycle 'boat' race.

The Argentine-born princess then joined her husband Willem-Alexander for a tug of war, seemingly not hindered by her high heels.

The afternoon of jollity in the province of Utrecht – each year the monarch visits a different town to celebrate – had clearly lifted their spirits.

Since February Friso, 43, the queen's middle son, has been in a coma. He is now receiving specialist care in a top London clinic.

Touching on the tragedy, the monarch spoke of the family's gratitude for their people's support.

She told the crowds: "It is sad that our family is not complete, but we will pass on all the good wishes we have felt and heard."

Princess Máxima turns 41

The princess is celebrating her birthday with her family, according to the Government Information Service. No information has been released about the location of the celebration.

Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and the couple's daughters - Princesses Amalia, Alexia and Ariane - will most certainly attend the party.

Last month, the prince celebrated his 45th birthday at home. Next month, the royal couple's middle child Princess Alexia will have her seventh birthday.

She's known for her vivacious personality and a winning smile that rarely falters.

And Crown Princess Maxima of the Netherlands is happiest when surrounded by her nearest and dearest.

The blonde Argentine was positively beaming as she was joined by her husband Willem Alexander and their three daughters, Amalia, Alexia and Ariane on a fun-filled day out.

The family posed for the snap as they attended the Children Make Music concert in Amsterdam.

Proud dad Willem once famously revealed that he and Maxima chose their daughters' names because they wanted a "triple A rating".

With their blonde locks and photogenic smiles, the little girls are certainly living up to their names.

The Netherland's stylish future Queen, Princess Maxima, championed fashion's latest look as she stepped out at the Holland Festival this week.

The cape has been given a new lease of life this year after gracing the shoulders of some of the most fashionable stars.

And in a new modern twist, it has also been incorporated into a range of dresses, favoured by the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and Diane Kruger.

It's an approach that has received the royal stamp of approval.

Proudly escorted by her husband Willem-Alexander, Maxima looked radiant in a white cape dress.

With gold accessories and her blonde hair styled around her face, the 41-year-old lit up the red carpet as she arrived for the final concert of the festival, held in Amsterdam.

It was the second stylish appearance from the princess in as many days.

On Thursday, the royal couple attended the opening of an exhibition on King Louis Napoleon at the Palace in Amsterdam.

And the Argentina-born beauty again stole the show in a fitted red and white summer dress that she teamed with matching heels and clutch.
