Philippines' Hottest and Most Phenomenal Reel and Real Life Couple
Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera are dubbed as Philippines' most phenomenal loveteam after marking history in their experimental team up in the 2007 remake of Marimar aired in GMA7. This TV series catapulted both the individual and the couple's  career to skyrocketing fame as evidenced by numerous endorsements, citations/recognitions and toprating consecutive projects on TV and in movies. DongYan (term given to the pair) has become a household name in Philippine showbiz since this phenomenal team up happened on TV. What is more exciting is that the partnership built onscreen blossomed into a genuine and deeply rooted romantic relationship in real life. <3<3<3

Marian is beautiful and one of few Filipino celebs that can act and doesn't annoy me...can't say the same for Ding Dong. I don't find him attractive and he has no acting talent to speak of.

It's all right. I respect your opinion. But fyi, Dingdong has recently been awarded as Best Drama Actor in Star Awards for TV, and is also nominated for the same title award in Asian TV Awards to be held in Singapore this December 9, 2010. He is the only one from the Philippines included in that category. Both awards were for his portrayal in Stairway to Heaven aireld last year in GMA7 :-)

I love them both.

DIngdong Dantes was selected as Best Drama Actor, besting five other top actors from rival network ABS-CBN who were nominated in the same category at the Star Awards for TV last November 13, 2010.

Dingdong thanked the Koreans who created the original Stairway to Heaven and GMA-7 for letting him improve on the material. He also acknowledged Rhian Ramos for being his partner in this television series. He then dedicated the award to his girlfriend, actress Marian Rivera, for inspiring him.

                            Dingdong Dantes sees Star Awards win and ATA nomination as "inspiration to do better"

Ilang araw pagkatapos hirangin si Dingdong Dantes bilang Best Actor in a Drama Series sa 24th Star Awards for TV, isa na namang karangalan ang nakamit ng aktor para sa GMA-7 drama series na Stairway to Heaven.

Nominado si Dingdong sa kategoryang Best Drama Actor sa 15th Asian TV Awards.

Makakalaban niya sa kategoryang ito sina Chang Shan-Wei (The Pioneers) ng Taiwan, Bowie Lam (Sister of Pearl) ng Hong Kong, Lee Cheng Yun (The Adjusters) ng Malaysia, Frederick Lee (Glowing Embers) ng Malaysia, at Chen Sicheng (Pretty Maid) ng China.

Gaganapin ang awards night sa December 9, 2010, sa Pan Pacific Plaza sa Singapore.

FIRST ACTING AWARD. Unang acting award ni Dingdong ang tropeyong natanggap niya mula sa Star Awards, at posibleng masundan ito ng isa pa dahil sa nomination niya sa Asian TV Awards (ATA).

Kung magkataon, hindi lang sa Pilipinas kikilalanin ang husay sa pag-arte ni Dingdong kundi maging sa buong Asia.

Masayang-masaya siyempre si Dingdong sa mga nangyayari sa kanyang acting career ngayon.

Sa text message na ipinadala niya sa sa PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kahapon, November 16, ipinaabot niya ang pasasalamat sa Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) dahil sa pagkilalang ipinagkaloob sa kanya bilang Best Actor in a Drama Series.

"Just the thought of being nominated along with the country's top dramatic actors already is a good reason for me to be proud," simula ng 30-year-old actor.

Anim na Kapamilya actors ang nakalaban ni Dingdong sa Star Awards: Coco Martin (Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo), Gerald Anderson (Your Song Presents: Isla), Jericho Rosales (Dahil May Isang Ikaw), John Estrada (Dahil May Isang Ikaw), Piolo Pascual (Lovers in Paris), and Sid Lucero (Dahil May Isang Ikaw).

Patuloy ng Kapuso actor, "However, reality put into place the real score of my triumph which gave me all the reason to rejoice.

"This is my first acting award. Often, people ask why I still don't have any... Maybe because back then, I really didn't hope for it. Hindi ko siya hinangad.

"Pero nang makuha ko ang sunod-sunod na magandang proyekto at magagandang roles dahil sa tiwala ng GMA, sabi ko sa sarili ko, for me to gain satisfaction in my work that can be validated by many, hindi ko siya dapat lamang pangarapin, hindi lamang hangarin, kundi gawin.

"I just did my role right and I put my heart into it, which should always be the case for all actors.

"I am grateful for the chance given to me. And to PMPC for the recognition."

ATA NOMINATION. Tungkol naman sa nominasyong nakuha niya mula sa Asian TV Awards, sinabi ng award-winning actor na nasorpresa siya at ni hindi raw niya naisip na mangyayari ito.

Kagaya raw ito ng naramdaman niya sa iba pang recognition na naigawad sa kanya in the past, tulad ng pagiging isa sa Sexiest Men ng E! Television at ang pagkakasama niya sa international film na Dance of the Steel Bars.

"I am still in awe and enjoying the feeling," sabi pa ni Dingdong. "But I know later on that this will higher the ante and raise the standards of my next performances, which adds to the pressure.

"Pero the most important thing is how I've learned to mix fun with professionalism, which goes beyond any award.

"That is why I see this PMPC and ATA 2010 nomination as an inspiration for me to do better in my next projects.

"Again, victory belongs to those who believe in it the most.

"Acting is a spiritual exercise which, if not for my faith, my family, my loved one, my God, nothing will be possible."

Kadalasan, hindi nakakapag-prepare ng speech at maraming nakakalimutang pasalamatan ang nananalo sa isang awards night. Ganito rin ang nangyari kay Dingdong nang manalo siya sa Star Awards for TV kaya kinuha niya ang pagkakataong ito para magpasalamat.

"Nagpapasalamat ako, unang-una, sa GMA 7 for entrusting me with the role. Sa bumubuo ng grupo ng Stairway to Heaven, headed by Otep [Joseph Buncalan]; Jay Cruz, my character consultant; directors Andoy Ranay at lalong-lalo na kay Binibining Joyce Bernal; manager kong si Perry Lansigan, pamilya ko..."

Siyempre pa, hindi nakalimutang banggitin ni Dingdong ang kanyang girlfriend na si Marian Rivera.

"Higit sa lahat, kay Marian, na nagbigay sa akin ng inspirasyon na higitan ang anumang akalain ko na hindi ko kaya. Because of her, I had my best ammunition to deliver to the needs of my character, and that is the reality of how it is to love and be loved.

"Also, to the supporters who wanted this award for me, as well. It's not about how many they are, but the quality and sincerity of their support is priceless."

actually his real name is jose sixto or something....he's actually from a wealthy family. I wasn't fond of him before but when I saw him in Moments of Love, I was quite impressed in the scene where he thought his love died and then when Marimar was announced, I didn't imagine there would really be that much chemistry between them but there really is. Marian is really beautiful-in fact when I heard they were remaking Marimar-it's her name that entered my mind to portray her and very happy she did got the role and won over more popular actresses at that time. Her beauty in Marimar is very striking and very fresh.

That woman is GORGEOUS. And is his name really Dingdong? O.o nickname? Why Dingdong? lol

Dingdong is his nickname. Actually, it's a nickname given to him by his father ever since he was small. Actually, according to a magazine interview and birthday celebration aired last year on tv, he also doesn't know until now why his father gave him that nickname..haha!

Maybe he should have consulted with someone who has lived oversea to come up with a name. Dingdong? This dude either not trying at all or he aiming to have a unique english name!

Better ask his father why he gave him that nickname haha! Until now he himself doesn't know the reason behind his father giving that nickname. And Dingdong's not up for a gimmick or something. Actually, when he entered showbiz during his teens, he made use of Raphael Dantes instead of Dingdong. He was not also comfortable with his nickname. However, "Raphael" did not make something fab to him, so he decided to stick with Dingdong, his original nickname since ever since he was a child. so there you go... :-)
