Based on the best seller novels The Lives of SungKyunKwan Confucian Scholars 1&2 <성균관 유생들의 나날 1&2> of Jung Eun Gweol, SungKyunKwan Scandal is a Chosun Dynasty youth story that deals with the love, friendship and passion of a quartet on SungKyunKwan college.

When her younger brother falls ill, Kim Yoon Hee enters the school in his place disguised as a boy in her desperation to find a way to support him, and becomes friends with Lee Sun Joon, a perfectionist who is also the brains of the gang, playboy Goo Yong Ha and the rebellious Moon Jae Shin.





Micky Yoochun as Lee Sun Joon

Lee Sun Joon is a perfectionist and leader of the Jal Geum Sa In Bang (aka the Chosun F4). The grandson of a powerful noble family, a perfect boy who meets all 3 conditions of studies, athletics and looks. He is troubled by the love he has for Kim Yoon Hee, who disguises herself as a man.

Even though he is at the top of the social ladder, his privilege is also a hindrance for he's never stepped out of his small, sheltered world.

Park Min Young as Kim Yoon Hee

The girl with smart and strong personality, she dresses as a man to gain admittance to SungKyunKwan college because of her ill brother. She becomes part of the group known as Jal Geum Sa In Bang (literally translated as "The 4 Pretty Boys") in SungKyunKwan and developes a love-relationship with Lee Sun Joon, who is the perfect husband material.

Yoon Hee is a person that when she sees someone doing something wrong, she will follow that person until that person apologizes. Responsibility is very important to her, and she likes to solve everything herself. This personality often gets her into trouble, but her intelligence helps getting her out of danger.

Song Joong Ki as Goo Yong Ha

The playboy member of the Jal Geum Sa In Bang, Goo Yong Ha is a wild and unstoppable womanizer who specializes in drinking and stealing girls' hearts. Despite his happy and carefree exterior, he hides sadness in his heart.

Yoo Ah In as Moon Jae Shin

The rebellious member of the Jal Geum Sa In Bang, Moon Jae Shin is a sharp-eyed and all-round entertainer who is described as a “jimseung nam,” which is (badly but most accurately) translated as “beast man.” A wild guy at first, when he meets good friends at Sungkyunkwan, he gradually starts changing and grows up.

Seo Hyo Rim as Ha Hyo Eun

She is the daughter of a prominent government minister and is engaged to Lee Sun Joon. Hyo Eun will be competing with Kim Yoo Hee for Lee Sun Joon's love.

[TRANS] 100407 Yoochun To Also Star In Korean Drama

Yoochun, from the popular Korean group 'TVXQ' who recently announced their hiatus, was selected to star in the Korean drama 'Sungkyunkwan Scandal', as announced by the public relations office on the 7th.

Yoochun will play the grandson of a powerful noble family, Lee Son Jun, who is troubled by the love he has for Kim Yoonhee, who disguises herself as a man.

This drama is based on the novel "The days in Sungkyunkwan Confucian institute". Replacing her sickly brother, Kim Yoonhee dresses as a man and enters the Sungkyunkwan institute. The drama depicts the love and friendship between Lee Son Jun, the perfect boy who meets all 3 conditions of studies, athletics and looks; bad boy Kim Jaeshin, and "playboy" Goo Yon Ha.

It was announced that the casting will be complete by the end of this month and filming is expected to begin next month.

[TRANS] 100416 'SungKyunKwan Scandal' Dream Team Is Formed!

'SungKyunKwan Scandal', which is getting a lot of attention for casting Micky Yoochun for its lead role, will bring forth a new model for producing dramas.

Historical Drama 'SungKyunKwan Scandal', which is based off the bestseller novel 'The Lives of Sungkyunkwan Confucian Scholars', will employ a hanbok designer, publicity marketing company and a company specializing in merchandise for their production line up and have formed a blueprint for everything ranging from filming to the sales of goods related to the drama.

Although most dramas wait until after it is finished to begin selling related goods, 'SungKyunKwan Scandal' will complete all marketing, merchandise and production plans before the drama ends. The expectations for the drama is high as the production team who have come together for it is as good as it can get.

Drama production will be handled by Lemon Rain, producers of great dramas such as "My Precious Child" and "That Fool", and content commercialization will be handled by YZOO Creative, a company that has brought content MD goods to a completely new level with productions such as 'The Host', 'Jumong', and 'Unstoppable High Kick'.

Costumes will be made by world renown hanbok designer Kim Hae Soon, who showed the world the beauty of the hanbok through the drama 'Hwang Jini', and publicity will be handled by YTree Media, a company that also took on 'Hwang Jini', 'On Air', 'The Painter of the Wind' and 'Style'.

A representative of Lemon Rain showed confidence in the team and said, "We are planning on making 'SungKyunKwan Scandal' a OSMU (One Source Multi Use) item. Therefore, we had to consider everything from the production to the commercialization of the drama. We will work hard to open this drama to the global market."

Micky Yoochun, the male lead and the first to be cast, is enthusiastic about his role even though filming hasn't begun yet as he said, "I have analyzed the character carefully, I've had numerous readings with the writer and the director and I've been taking acting lessons. Although I'm nervous because this is my first attempt at acting, I will do my best."

'SungKyunKwan Scandal' will be wrapping up casting soon and begin filming on May 1st.

“SungKyunKwan Scandal” will begin its filming from today onwards.

“SungKyunKwan Scandal” is a youthful and romantic historical drama. It is based in Sung Kyun Kwan back in the olden Korea times. The appearance of the quartet in this drama has been compared to the F4 in 『花样男子~Boys Over Flowers』 and is currently the focus of much attention.

In “SungKyunKwan Scandal”, due to the weak health of her younger brother, the female lead takes part in an examination disguised as a boy and ends up being enrolled into Sung Kyun Kwan due to the outstanding results obtained. She later meets the three characters played by Yoochun, Song Joong Gi and Yoo Ah-in, triggering the start of a campus love story.

With Yoochun as the lead actor, the filming journey of this youthful romantic drama has taken its first step with its first filming session on the 27th at someplace in Gyeonggi Province. Today’s filming is about a scene where a freshly-enrolled Syeonjun appears in a street in Bukchon to solve a confidential imperial decree which he had received. It was said that after Yoochun had accepted his role, he has been analyzing the character and pracitising his performance. Yoochun also expressed that he looked forward to meeting Yun Hee (the name of the female lead). He was unable to sleep the night before the filming and he felt nervous while preparing for the first session of filming.

A spokesperson of the production company of “SungKyunKwan Scandal” expressed that due to everyone’s concern, all the actors and crew members began the first session of filming with a boost in their morale. He added on to say, “We hope that everyone will continue to give their endless love and support towards this excellent production.”

I really hope for a good actress too! Out of the ones they've mentioned in the article, I'm rooting for Moon Chae Won mainly because I'm familiar with her work and I've liked what I've seen so far. Plus, she has the ancient beauty look about her (GHS too) whereas some actresses look very modern.

Sungkyunkwan’s other student foursome

Now that the main leads have been selected, upcoming campus sageuk drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal is filling in its supporting cast. The four actors above play a group of sunbaes at the school who take an antagonistic role to our main quartet and are (from top left, going clockwise) Jeon Tae-soo, Chae Byung-chan, Kim Dong-yoon, and Kang Sung-pil.

Sungkyunkwan Scandal has already drawn notice for the casting of its main leads — Micky Yoochun, Song Joong-ki, Yoo Ah-in — who play three of the “Joseon F4.” (The fourth member is the role of a girl who dresses as a guy to take her sick brother’s place at school, and had been cast with Jung Da-young before she recently dropped out.)

In the rival foursome, Jeon Tae-soo (whom you may recall is the younger brother to actress Ha Ji-won) plays a “bad guy” role as the leader who is part of Sungkyunkwan’s student council. He was in 2007’s King and I, which makes this his second time in a sageuk. Kang Sung-pil had roles in Legend and Queen Seon-dok and plays Jeon’s right-hand man in a comic role highlighted by his dimwittedness. Chae Byung-chan was apparently in My Fair Lady (I can’t recall him, but he may have been one of the butlers), while new actor Kim Dong-yoon takes on a new character who wasn’t in the original novel.

The actress for the role of Kim Yun-hee, who disguises herself as a man in KBS2’s television drama “SungKyunKwan Scandal” has been confirmed. “SungKyunKwan Scandal” is scheduled for broadcast in September and one of the workers has confirmed on the 31st that, “The role has finally been confirmed this time round. Amongst the numerous actresses, Park Min Young is the one who fits the criteria of the character.”

Park Min Young’s character, Kim, is someone who takes the enrollment examination on behalf of her sickly younger brother. After having enrolled into SungKyunKwan, Kim later develops a romantic relationship with Yoochun’s character. Other than Yoochun, Song Joong Gi and Yoo Ah-in are also involved in this drama.

In addition, when Yoochun was filming in Yongin City, Gyeonggi on the 27th, a few hundred fans gathered on the site, proving the popularity of Yoochun. “SungKyunKwan Scandal” is based on the popular novel “The Lives of SungKyunKwan Confucian Scholars” by Jung Eun Gweol, and is Yoochun’s first exposure as an actor.

Song Joong Ki is such a cutie<333333 Yoo Ah In too and plus Park Min Young, it's heaven. I love these 3.
Not a big fan of DBSK or Yoochun but i hope he can act well enough to pull off as the lead.
The storyline seems interesting, it's a rom-com that i would love to watch. (assuming that this drama is gonna be a rom-com, haha)
