Synopsis"Grean" is Thai slang for a yet not mature youth, coming from the style of haircut common to young men at school.
The 2014 series is a continuation of the 2013 film (also by Chookiat Sakveerakul) Grean Fictions (
เกรียนฟิคชั่น), which was set in a high school in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The film followed the final years of high school of several teenagers interested in the arts and in film production up until their university entrance exams. The series continues where the film left off, with the students growing up and growing into college life and adulthood. Will they enter college? How will they continue their film production? Will they work with Pramote and his studio which he sets up for them: Grean House? The series is a comedy promising to focus, not so much on teen issues as, on the meaning of being an adult.

I'm a huge fan of the director P'Madiaw (of Love of Siam fame) and even though it's probably not his best film, Grean Fictions is probably my favourite film by him. I like some of the movie's themes, such as "If there's nothing funny, the drama's not worth watching," and the film's big reveal at the end is very touching for me.

The series starts airing tonight, and there's still no thread for it here at Soompi! :-O Since Studio Commuan is promising English and Chinese subtitles, the show might draw quite a few fans. P'Madiaw is a big draw. I'm looking forward to this. :)

There's the issue that this series is a follow-up to a movie. I think they can make the series without spoiling the movie. Maybe. I guess. So, for now... For those who have seen the film -- please can anyone who has seen the film avoid spoiling it for others? I'm not sure if this will be possible in the long run, but maybe we can just talk about the film in general first? Or use spoiler tags to discuss some of the surprising plot points in the original film? Just a suggestion. :)

Oh wow, this is interesting. Never heard of this until now. And Pchy is in the series? I was under the impression he quit acting.
Apologies if this was already answered before - but this is from the same team behind Love of Siam?

@nicmartin Pchy was also in the 2013 movie, so he hasn't exactly quit acting. :) But I doubt he's reprising the same role as he had in the movie. It doesn't look like he's in every episode (?). But it sounds like he's in the first one, at least.

The series is by Studio Commuan, which is the studio behind Grean Fictions (2013), the Home movie (2012), Suea Krong (Tiger Band that does the song in the "Thee" episode of Hormones The Series), 8 of Wands, August Band (i.e., the band born of The Love of Siam), Pchy in general... I'm not sure if, aside from P'Madiaw, any of the actual production team is the same as Love of Siam. Studio Commuan is a company based primarily in Chiang Mai.

Thanks Khun @bencanuck - I think I'm sold. I will be looking out for this one. So this basically answers my question of "What would life be without Hormones?" 5555
Is the main storyline about gay relationships? I kind of wish it just isn't.

In the film, none of the four main characters (Tee, Oat, Mone, Mon) were gay. If they had been, the plot would never have happened. They needed someone to pretend to be gay in order to hold hands with the most beautiful girl in school, who's never touched a guy's hands before. :)

Also, I don't think Tok (the cameraman) is gay either, but they made a joke about it in the movie, so it's possible. Maybe he is.

Koi is also from the movie and, unlike Koi in Hormones, is not a lesbian. ;)

The other characters, except for Tip, are new. So I don't know about them. :)

It starts tonight. On Facebook it's been implied that the episodes will be available (permanently) on YouTube, with subtitles. That's pretty awesome if true.

The 2013 film unfortunately didn't do well at the box office. It had to compete directly with Pee Mak Pra Khanong, the GTH and Mario Maurer movie that went on to become the most commercially successful Thai movie ever. Grean Fictions unfairly didn't stand a chance. :(

So I really hope they don't expect people to have seen the film. That might be asking for disaster.

Wow thank you @bencanuck for starting the thread!  I really like P’Madiaw’s works and I like Grean Fictions too.

I like all of main characters but the one that I like most is Tee (N’Fiat). When I watched the movie I want to punch him and hug him at the same time 555)

I know about GHTS for a while because I’m a fan of LSTS. I heard that Grean House will air after LS SS1 ended, and I almost forgot it’s today.

And for those who are interested in Studio Commuan’s products, you can go visit its online store (Worldwide Shipping). The ost. and Grean Fictions film are available. ;)

Hi @iambow! Glad someone else on Soompi has seen the movie and is looking forward to the series! :D

For me, my favourite characters are Tok and Koi, but I like Tee a lot, too. People who know that my favourite character on TV is Mhog from Hormones will not be surprised that I like Tok and Koi. One is the cameraman (Tok), and the other (Koi) is the person who organizes everyone, keeps everyone together, and is everyone's friend. :))

The movie was basically about Tee more than everyone else. I'm interested to see how the series will be. It seems to be more of an ensemble show and less focused on Tee. :-?

I can't find the movie with English subs so for now I have no idea about characters and stuff like that, however judging by the previews (and the movie trailers) it seems like a fun series ....on top of that I finally got another show for my Sunday night!

Will the live stream have English subs or Studio Commuan will upload the episodes on youtube after it airs on tv? (regardless, I'm happy they are providing the subs for the international viewers)

The show is airing right now on MCOT Modern Nine/TV 9.

The Facebook for Studio Commuan says that the episode will be uploaded to YouTube with English subtitle at 10pm Thai time (about 20 min after the episode finishes airing). (It's not a live airing on YouTube like Hormones this year. It's supposed to be an upload after the TV airing.)

Dirty jokes galore. I have no idea how they're getting away with all of this, lol. Same TV ratings, same time slot as Love Sick. Yet, LS had to deal with so many censorship issues.
