SYNOPSIS
The Joseon version of  The Chaser about a medical practitioner who struggles to save his daughter from a terminal illness while being caught up in a plot to poison the human race

Oriental doctor Choi Won (Lee Dong-Wook), who works for the royal family, becomes involved with the plot to poision King Injong and is now a fugitive. He tries to save his daughter who has an incurable disease. Choi Won has raised his daughter alone since his wife passed away.

This drama is about a fugitive of the Joseon Dynasty period

 

1544, Joseon Dynasty era.

One night, the prince's doctor is found dead.

Choi Won, a doctor is framed for murder, but he manages to avoid capture.

 
But he won't get away that easily.
There are forces at work against the wrongfully accused doctor.

An assassin is hired to track down and get rid of Choi Won.

Choi Won must elude his captors.

A deadly game of cat and mouse ensues in the process.

Also, a deadly conspiracy involving a plot to poison the prince is slowly unveiled.

 

It is the story of a father cannot afford to die, because he must ensure the safety of his child. 
 

Choi Won escapes imminent capture and death in dramatic fashion.

He continues to run from captors and clearly he is driven by something incredible to stay alive and be free.

 

For him, there is only one reason why he must stay alive.

His daughter, suffering form leukemia, needs him.

He needs to prove his innocence and go back to searching for a cure for his daughter's condition.

Time is running out!

A man who cares for nothing else but his daughter.

He has to fight his way out of this predicament for his daughter.

Cares about nothing but his daughter.

A doctor who is on the run after being framed for murder

" I'll give my life to save you! If I can't save you I don't deserve to be a father or a doctor."

His motto in life is to play it safe and make it through another day.
He has what it takes to be much more successful in life, but he hides his true talent.
He cares not for fame or fortune.
All that matters to him is getting off work on the dot so he can spend time with his sick daughter.
He cares little for what goes on at work.
He is focused only on finding the cure for his daughter's condition.
Naturally, no one at work looks up to him. 
But there's more to him than meets the eye.
He simply wants to stay under the radar so that he can have more time to do what he must.

The most talented female doctor of her time

Her fair complexion and clear eyes makes her stand out anywhere.

She loathes lies and deceptions.

Which is why she hates Choi Won.

 

How dare he poses as a doctor!

She finds his attitude at work unacceptable!

She looks up to that one great doctor that saved her life.

Her father was framed and dishonerably demoted.

When everything in her life was torn apart and she nearly died, a great doctor saved her.

He inspired her to become a doctor.

She is devoted to her craft and will not tolerate those unfit for the job.

Choi Rang

Choi Rang (Played by Kim Yoo-bin)

 

Choi Won's beloved daughter, who suffers from an incurable ailment

"If I don't let you go, will that cost you your life?

 Choi's wife gave her life to give birth to Rang.

She grows up to resemble her mother more and more.

Unfortunately she also suffers from a condition similar to her mom's.

Later it turns out she is suffering from leukemia.

Still she stays as bright and cheerful as ever.

 

She is smart enough to make use of her very giving father.

Knowing her sickness makes her father sad and worried, she tries hard to appear happy and healthy in front of him.

 One day, something happens while she brings her father's clothes to his workplace.

The prince and the future Rival of the Queen in Politics

The prince has two faces.

A brilliant strategist who survives many wars.

His wisdom and skills are outmatched only by his admirable character as a caring leader.

Many believe he will make a great king some day.

 

Unfortunately he has a dark side.

Although he seems to possess no flaws, there lies madness within.

Even as a child, many were after his life.

And those who loved him dearly died.

He hates himself for failing to protect them, and suspects everyone of being a potential foe.

 

It was the only way he could stay alive to this day.

But there is one person he trusts with his life.

The grand son of Choi Jang-son named Won who is his best friend that helped him get where he is today

She will get rid of Lee Ho to ensure her candidate of choice becomes king.

 

A master of manipulation and mind games who rose to power at age 16.

While many hoped she would be the mother the prince never had, her ambition prohibits her from doing so.

To rise to absolute power, she will do everything she can.

 

To get rid of the only thing that stands in her way, she secretly rounds up a group of powerful and faithful followers to help her achieve her ambitious goals.

And his current assignment is bringing the murderous Choi Won.

The daughter of a bandit leader who Won runs into.

Naturally she consistently complain about being born a girl, thinking her father would pay more attention to her if she was a boy.

What fantastic unexpected casting news! IRIS 2 has a good 20-episodes to burn through so it won’t wrap up until early April. Of course its never too early to cast the follow up drama, which I’ve long heard was going to be sageuk Heaven’s Order (or Fate of Heaven). With his Strong Heart MC gig just ended, actor Lee Dong Wook can finally get back to, well, acting. The inside track has him signed on as the male lead in his first sageuk as a Joseon royal physician. I think Lee Dong Wook is an actor that rises to the occasion – given good material and he shines like a multi-faceted diamond (A Bittersweet Life), given bad material and he sinks like a stiff board (Scent of a Woman). It’s high time he takes on his first sageuk and this sounds totally intriguing. He plays a Joseon era royal physician who goes on the run after he gets falsely accused of participating in a plot to murder King Injong (the twelfth King of the Joseon dynasty). While on the lam, he saves the life of a girl with an incurable disease and they get embroiled in a even greater conspiracy that potential will rock the nation. Lucky for Lee Dong Wook, his purported leading lady is going to be a great asset to him in his first sageuk – Song Ji Hyo is in talks to join.  she is totally fantastic in sageuks much in the same way Seo Ji Hye excels at the period roles. Her last drama was the sageuk Gyebaek in 2011.Sounds like this is a done deal, especially since Lee Dong Wook recently filmed Running Man and likely already got to chat with his soon-to-be leading lady. This will mean that mid-April onward will have a sageuk bonanza with Gu Family Book, Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love, and now Heaven’s Order.

Directing will be the PD for Birth of the Rich and Baby-faced Beauty, and the scriptwriter wrote Birth Of the Rich and Only You. I’m not particularly impressed with the resumes of either the PD or the scriptwriter, but since neither had attempted a sageuk before and failed, I’ll withhold any impression until I see how Heaven’s Order turns out.

Lee Dong-wook up for fugitive-thriller sageuk drama

We’ve had vague, noncommittal rumblings of these casting possibilities, but now the production of sageuk drama Mandate of Heaven is swinging into action with a bevy of official press releases. None of these castings is finalized, but we do have confirmation that Lee Dong-wook (Scent of a Woman), Song Ji-hyo (Crime Squad), and Yoon Jin-yi(A Gentleman’s Dignity) are strong contenders for the roles. (KBS is currently awaiting their replies.)

It’s a historical series infused with a thriller vibe; the show’s being dubbed a “Joseon-eraTaken” and “Joseon Ajusshi.” Set during the reign of King Injong, who only ruled for a short period due to illness, our hero (Lee Dong-wook’s potential character) is a royal physician desperate to cure his ailing daughter. He becomes a fugitive when he gets entangled in an assassination plot to poison the king, and fights to save both his daughter’s life and his own.

Song Ji-hyo’s character is the royal nurse who falls in love with our hero. I really wish they’d give more info on her since she’s an actress capable of being dynamic and interesting; let’s hope she gets some meaty character details to work with. Yoon Jin-yi, a fresh face who earned some name recognition playing Meahri in A Gentleman’s Dignity, will play the daughter of a bandit who ends up on the run with the hero. This oughtta be a nice change of pace for her, taking her from Meahri’s privileged whiny princess to simple-minded village tomboy. Thank goodness.

The drama will be rife with court intrigue and political machinations, which makes this tonally a curious departure for our production team. Writer Choi Min-ki and PD Lee Jin-seo have worked together a couple times, but their credits point to much lighter, brighter projects. They both worked on the comedic Birth of the Rich, while the PD also has the workplace rom-com Baby-Faced Beauty on his resumé. He does also have a Joseon-era sageuk to his name… but it’s the wacky and often-unintentionally hilarious Strongest Chil-woo, which I’m not sure is the most ringing endorsement.

Mandate of Heaven is a KBS Wednesday-Thursday offering set for 24 episodes and will air after IRIS 2. That puts its premiere in April, and filming begins in March. With the script reading slated for later this week, I expect these castings to finalize very soon (despite the wave of “They’re still considering! No confirmations yet!” statements that were issued at the last minute).

Lee Dong Wook, and Song Ji Hyo, who showed off great teamwork as part of the same team on ‘Running Man‘ on this past weekend’s episode, may soon find themselves embroiled in on-screen romance!

The two along with actress Yoon Jin Yi are in the finals stages of being cast for upcoming historical genre medical drama, ‘Mandate of Heaven‘.

Lee Dong Wook, once confirmed, will be playing the lead character, a Joseon dynasty doctor who is on the run after having been framed. He struggles to find the cure to save his daughter from an incurable disease. His partner to be there for him every step of the way will be none other than actress Song Ji Hyo, the female doctor assisting him. The two will be Yoon Jin Yi, who is in consideration to play the role of a daughter of the head of thieves.

Although the exact details of the synopsis haven’t been revealed, it’s suspected that the lead characters Lee Dong Wook and Song Ji Hyo will become the new love line viewers will want to watch out for! However, with Yoon Jin Yi also mentioned, it may be that we might even see a love triangle in the making.

As always, all sides have expressed that they have been approached and are looking at things optimistically but have not yet confirmed (which usually means that we will be seeing the three actors on the show!)

The drama ‘Mandate of Heaven’ will start airing mid-April after ‘Iris 2‘.

I'm wondering if there has been an influx of medical saeguk dramas lately? This should be Lee Dong Wook's first attempt at a historical drama and I hope he excels in the role.

Actor Lee Dong-wook, Song Ji-hyo and Yoon Jin-i are about to attempt at a historical.

According to the media, the three will be starring in the upcoming KBS drama, "Heaven's Orders" which is the Joseon version of "The Chaser". A government official is on the run for being part of a human poisoning plot but struggles to save his daughter from a terminal illness.

Lee Dong-wook takes on the role of Choi Won the government official, Song Ji-hyo in the role of his stepdaughter Hong Da-in and Yoon Jin-i is So-baek, the boyish daughter of a gangster boss.

King Kong Entertainment claimed that Lee Dong-wook and Yoon Jin-i are going through the final phase of their contract at the moment.

Meanwhile, "Heaven's Orders" is written by Choi Min-gi and produced by Lee Jin-seo. It is to be aired in April after "IRIS 2".

Song Ji Hyo’s Nylon pictorials revealed

SBS top variety show Running Man‘s ace Song Ji Hyo‘s pictorials with fashion magazine Nylon have been revealed. In these photos Song Ji Hyo is wearing a bear shaped hat with floral-patterned clothing and a lose-fit fashion to put forth a cute and innocent image.

During the photoshoot, a short interview was processed about her as an actress looking at her works. When asked how she selects which projects to work on, she answered:

“If the scenario is good, then I participate in the piece without hesitation. I don’t really think about how my image will change after a project. Because if I think of those thing, I start calculating what I need to do. You have to be victorious with the character in the movie. If you worry about anything else, the obviously you will become less confident when you act.”

Actress Song Ji Hyo has consistently scored successful projects, both as an actress and entertainer, and she shared how she makes her career moves with fashion mag NYLON. 

In addition to a photo shoot for the magazine, Song Ji Hyo sat down for an interview to talk about her career.











When asked how she chooses her projects she replied, “I tend to participate without much hesitation in projects with good scenarios. I don’t worry about the possible change of my image after one project because then I’ll have to start calculating everything I do. I put all my effort into becoming the character in the story and nothing else, because I’ll be distracted otherwise.”

Song Ji Hyo’s charms have recently met with the fashion magazine, “Nylon.” Song Ji Hyo sports a number of cute items such as a bear hat and flower print wide-leg pants. She naturally pulls off the loose-fit fashion with her charming smile and lovely features.

It is reported that the photo shoot staff fell in love with Song Ji Hyo’s happy energy all throughout the shoot. After the photo shoot, Song Ji Hyo spoke about how she views and selects her projects as an actress.

When asked what her standards were for choosing a project, Song Ji Hyo answered, “If the scenario is good, I usually choose the project without much dilemma.
