Kristen Stewart allegedly cheated on longtime boyfriend Robert Pattinson.

According to Us Weekly’s new issue, the cover of which leaked online Tuesday afternoon, Pattinson made a “heartbreaking discovery” when he found out Stewart allegedly had a “steamy affair” with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.

A small photo featured on the cover seemingly shows Sanders — who is married to and has kids with Snow White actress Liberty Ross — wrapping his arms around Stewart in an embrace.

Us further claims the two were photographed not long ago making out.

Similarly, People is reporting Stewart is “devastated” by her actions,” with a source describing the incident as a “mistake and a complete lapse in judgement.”

Gossip Cop has begun thoroughly investigating Us Weekly’s and People’s claims, and here is what we know so far.

Something did happen between Stewart and Sanders, although a source close to the actress tells us, “It’s not a relationship.”

“She made a mistake. She feels awful,” we’re told, but our source stresses, “She’s not with him.”

It’s worth noting that Stewart and Pattinson were seen out together just last Thursday – after the starlet’s alleged make-out session — when they held hands exiting a Los Angeles hotspot.

The two also attended Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards together.

Our insider is not saying what the future holds for Stewart and Pattinson.

UPDATE:

Kristen Stewart has released a public apology for hurting her boyfriend of three years, Robert Pattinson.

The Twilight actress was caught with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders, in a series of PDA photos.

“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,”

Kristen said in a statement Wednesday (via People).

“This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob.

I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”

Rupert, 41, is married to British Vogue model Liberty Ross. 

Rob, 26, and Kristen, 22, were last spotted together at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards. The final installment of their vampire tale The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 opens November 16.

My opion: if she really loves Rob, why did she cheat on him? he must be totally shocked and heart-broken.

Terrible. Not a fan of either of them, but from a relationship standpoint, I hope Robert Pattinson doesn't take her back. Once trust is gone, it's gone.

Crazy! I'm not a fan of the twilight series, but I have seen interviews of the two together, and they are quite a match. Robert Pattinson also seems like a cool guy, can't believe Kristin would do something like this. With a married man, and then claim that she loves him?!

Lady GaGa: 'I hope Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson are okay'

Lady GaGa has reacted to the news of Kristen Stewart's fling with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.

Stewart was recently revealed to have cheated on Robert Pattinson during a "brief fling" with Sanders.

 

GaGa posted on her Twitter account: "Geez this Kirstew Rob stuff is brutal. Makes me sad the way press acts. Hope they're OK."

Both Sanders and Stewart have confirmed the speculation and issued apologies for their actions.

If Robert was the one caught cheating with a married woman, people would be patting him on the back and there would be comments praising him and saying how they can't blame him for it.  In a couple months it will all be forgotten and everything would be back to normal. Since it's Kristen who was caught, she's going to be called a Richard Simmons, slut, homewrecker... because she made a mistake. I'm not saying what she did was right or she should be excused but I just want to point out this double standard when it comes to cheating.

Shame on her for cheating, but good on her for owning up to it(I know, photo evidence and all, but just saying at least she wasn't trying to be even more of an idiot and try to stall and deny). Hope things get resolved....

The only real reason she is desperately and publicly making an apology is probably because there is a lot at stake in 'selling' the Bella and Edward romance in the upcoming last installment of their movie.  With her recent infidelity, who knows how much it could have soured fans to the story, what with all the chemistry Pattinson and Stewart built up on screen and off.  I bet you anything, if this all happened after the last movie had already come out, we wouldn't be really seeing a public apology .... and possibly no real intention of reconciling with Pattinson.  It wouldn't surprise me if the two actors 'played nice' for the time being - but then eventually separating ways once the last movie has made its run.

Well, nobody cares that the man who is married also cheated on his freaking wife with whom he has children with? 

Kristen isn't the only one at fault there. So why is she the only one apologizing publicly ? Why doesn't the married guy get to apology publicly too? (That is a rhethorical question of course.)

I just hope they (R & K) will be okay, whether they decide to split or not. Kristen is going to have to be prepared for the ugly things that's going to happen with all the crazy fan of Rob out there.

"Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders issuing his own apology to his wife and two young children.

"I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family," Sanders, 41, said in a statement to People magazine, which also had 22-year-old Stewart's apology exclusively.

"My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world.

I love them with all my heart. "I am praying that we can get through this together."

Robert Pattinson has packed his bags.

Following Kristen Stewart's public apology for having a fling with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, the 26-year-old actor has left the Los Angeles home he shared with Stewart, PEOPLE has confirmed.

"I'm not sure they'll be able to recover from this," a source says of the couple of three years, who met making the Twilight trilogy.

In seclusion and not in contact with Stewart, 22, the British star "is heartbroken and angry," says the source.

A "devastated" Stewart, meanwhile, described Pattinson as "the person I love and respect the most" in her apology following revelations of her indiscretion with Sanders, 41, a married father of two.

"Kristen really loves Rob more than anything," says an insider. "He's all that matters to her right now."

You answered your question, it's cause he's a guy. Kristen is getting ALL the heat while that married director with 2 kids just got a couple comments saying if he wanted to cheat with an actress on his movie he should've picked Charlize Theron. Wow right...

Kristen Stewart shares intimate dinner with Rupert Sanders - pictures

Intimate pictures of Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders dining together a few months before their affair began have re-emerged online.

The 23-year-old Twilight actress can be seen chatting closely to the 41-year-old British director as they enjoy a bite to eat at Monsieur Vuong restaurant in Berlin during the Snow White and The Huntsman press tour.

It's reported that they were also joined by cast and crew members, including Charlize Theron, although the actress is not clearly visible in the images.

In another picture, from the set taken back in May, Stewart is also seen gesturing rudely to the paparazzi.

Following the revelation of their affair, Sanders has since issued an apology to his actress wife and mother to their two children Liberty Ross.
