Hello. How many of you guys currently own a business? Who wants/will start one in the near future?

If so, what type of business? Have you thought about location, having investors/partners, etc?

I figure I could open some type of restaurant or a real estate agency or even a financing firm.

Ideally it'd be a partnership as I don't see a need to do a sole proprietorship, but whatever happens happens. I'd want to flip houses or do a restaurant those would be #1 and #2, just have to come up with a solid plan.

Living abroad teaching English as a Second Language to senior one (sophomore in the US) students in China. Housing, electricity, water, food, some medical, round trip airfare home, and plenty of paid vacations, I really can't complain.

I work in a call center providing technical support for computer devices through live chat...it's not that bad...I just sit there and chat with customers...it's not as hard when you talk to them on the phone...but i cater 2 customers at the same time...not bad I guess...but with the salary, that's a different story... :(

Yes you will be able to find a job with "just" a bachelor's degree in chemistry. My friend did so. He's doing lab work in Los Angeles right now. And my other friends always tell me that as long as you have a bachelor's degree, you have a better chance of landing a job anywhere (as opposed to those who don't), even if it's not in your field.

hi, i am in the IT industry, I am based in Malaysia and I thought of going to other countries to explore the opportunities there, but I have no idea how...(I know it would be easier if I am hired so that it solves my working visa. However, I have job search on the internet and most of the companies want to hire ppl with already existing working permits). Any advise? thanks!

you definitely deserve better than that! just today i was listening to the radio on the way to work and they were talking about how often rude customers throw things back into the faces of the people working in the drive-thru windows. i hope you never had to deal with that

i'll hopefully be starting up a company that does software solutions of major consulting firms. i have a partner who's well connected in the US, and it's just a matter of me getting a little bit more experience in the software industry. we have a couple of outside investors who are willing to fund us after they see the details of the business plan and product design, and possible vc funding after a version 1.0 release.

not sure how it'll come up, but i think im young enough to just give it a try. haha

there's few ways to approach this.

first, you could go to your desired country under a tourist visa. Let's say the U.S, since I know a lot about the immigration laws here. You should try to maximize your vacation stay. During this time, you could try to find work and ask that the company sponsor your H1-B visa. This requires a lot of money, I believe $10,000. Some companies will sponsor this fee, or most of the time the company will deduct this fee out of your paycheck. One things for sure, this is very risky, expensive, and not to mention, difficult. Many people use to do this but the H1-B quota gets filled so fast every year, and the fee is just so expensive.

second, would be to enter the country using a student visa. It's the same whether it's undergrad or graduate. After your studies, you get a 1-year grace period called an OPT status where you can obtain a social security number and find work. After the one year period, you'll need to go back to your country. If you would like to stay you need the H1-B sponsorship in the first solution.

third, and the BEST way is to find someone in the country and get married! Seriously, I think this is the best way.

This is just the U.S. All countries have different immigration policies, so it's best that you take a look at some of their laws and see what's best.
